Couldn't have put it better myself. I can't wait for the series to begin now.
Im counting down the days. My kids think im extremly sad but I am genuinly bouncing off the walls.
Ohh, ohh, they've just shown a new trailer. The tradis is alone then flames come out...... CHRIST I CAN'T WAIT ANYMORE.

Joel.

The question is are your children interesetd too? These are the people the show needs to reach to be a success. We need to get them away from those Geordie munchkins on ITV to watch a genuinely talented Northern bloke on BBC1 on Saturday nights!!

My kids in all fairness haven't a clue what the hell Dr Who is. I said Tradis the other day and my little boy, Thom told me to stop swearing. I chuckled my little heart out. I really do hope this takes off, and I have this weird feeling that it'll be one of them programmes the whole family can watch and at the same time find it entertaining.
And yes I do agree, we need to move away from them "things" on ITV. I was watching TV the other day and there was something called the Boobars, Im not sure about Thom but I was scared.
Please BBC I have such fond memories don't ruin them.

I had to laugh, I was telling a man at work about Doctor Who and he's a mere 23 years old. When I explained that the trailers with Doctor and Rose are actually set inside the TARDIS he said 'how can that fit in there it's just a police box!?!' I don't think I fully appreciated how long the show had been away until I heard that comment.

That was when I really understood what a huge job Russell T Davies was trying to do, he has to remind the original fans and start to explain to a whole new set of viewers & keep it pacy enough so that it won't get the young people turning over.

Yes Davies has set a brench mark to climb too, but saying that MORI polling has found the programme to be the most wanted to return.
From what Ive seen so far (titles) its looks very good, I really like the tardis spinning around mid-way. My only concern is whether Billie Piper can pull the roll off. I recently read that due to sex discrimination act the "assistant" could no longer set cast as a women. Christopher Eccleston, now he looks good so far. Im very impressed with the trailers. Im just going to move the sofa so I can hide next week....

And for those who care, the new titles and theme:

Are they really the titles - not a newcomers mock!

They are appalling - it's one thing going for the nostalgia thing but if that's the best they can come up with viewers be turning off in the first 30 seconds.

The handful of viewers not watching Ant and Dec that is!

I see that from the credits, Christopher Eccleston plays the role of 'Doctor Who' - interesting in that since Peter Davidson took the lead, the role was named 'The Doctor'. Harking back to the original!

Why do you think you know what will happen. It is quite possible Doctor Who will be the Saturday night solution for the BBC. Most people won't be swayed by a 40-second title sequence, and even if they did, visually they look a lot better than the classics, and are simular to the Who movie in 1997 which got 9 million viewers.

The titles are better than anything you produce in the Mock Designs forum anyhow.

If those titles are "nicked" from the BitTorrrent "leak" then haven't they already been described as "temporary" titles for a pilot screening?

AIUI the torrent leak doesn't contain the final titles - and I suspect they have yet to be released legitimately?

The bittorent leak had the original 1963 Delia Derbyshire theme, albeit the version which was re-mastered into a stereo track by Mark Ayres as far as i know. The theme in the clip is the new one by Murray Gold. As for the visuals, i'm not sure about those, but i sure hope that isn't the final version as it's a bit rubbish.

It is worth nothing however that if you look at the clip, you'll notice that the doctor who logo, when it appears, takes up all of the 16:9 picture from left to right, so when shown on terrestrial it will be cropped off. So i'm guessing these are just temporary titles based on that fact.

Looking at them again, I'd say that the actual lettering of the title "Doctor Who" is well within 14:9 protection limits, even if the full width of the logo 'plate' isn't. That would mean terrestrial 14:9 viewers seeing all the lettering, whereas widescreen viewers seeing the full width of the image - which is exactly how it should be if we must cater for cropped terrestrial images.

Well from what I've seen on various news shows those look like the finished titles. The TARDIS flying through space looks a bit fake in places, it looked much more effective in the titles for the tv movie (shoud have used a model shot). But it still looks exciting and dynamic and builds anticipation.

On an unrelated note I was pleased to see that in SFX's poll for favourite Doctor, Peter Davison came second. In every poll that I've seen it's always Tom Baker and Pertwee in the top 2 places, with Tom usually first but sometimes if the UK Gold repeats were featuring the Pertwee era he'd occasionally win. However this is the first time I've seen Davison finish so highly, I'm really pleased because I always felt that his era was the last in the 80's that was really popular and the BBC were still fairly behind. What came after led the show into decline.
