With reference to the doctors regeneration. Isn't this the first time the doctor regenerated without actually being dead? The time vortex had technically finished him off but without finally killing him. This triggered off the regeneration process prematurely. Now, I am to believe that the doctor could only die 12 times.....does this mean it is a clever twist as a means to increase his regenerations? After all, as he didn't actually die, this technically means he has an extra life.
The second Doctor (Patrick Troughton) was forced to regenerate into the third Doctor (Jon Pertwee) when he was exiled ro Earth. I don't think he was actually killed during the process.

So how many complaints will they get after Jack (is it Jack?) kissed the Doctor? I'd have thought quite a few for what's supposed to be a kids show.

I was surprised they included that kiss considering it went out at 7pm. Is Jack going to be in the next series? He is quite yummy.

I've heard he returns half way through the second series.

I thought that too considering there was a big moan about a gay kiss in Corrie at 7:30pm. But then again it was hardly tongue hockey was it, whereas the one in Corrie was a little more passionate lol

Made me laugh to discover that they're replacing Doctor Who with a repeat of Only Fools and Horses! Saturday nights are going to be a barren place now! I reckon that the next Doctor Who episode will show at 7pm on Christmas Eve! (Saturday 24th December). After all with Christmas Day being a Sunday, they'll have to fit in the Eastenders Omnibus and Songs of Praise!

Hmm I think you could be right there, Christmas Day primetime is usually dedicated to a comedy, which has been brought back after 4 or 5 years from our screens (Only Fools and Horses, The Vicar Of Dibley, Absolutely Fabulous, etc). I'm betting on Blackadder or Birds Of A Feather making an appearance on the big day this year or next, as both have been mentioned as having interest in a comeback, and they're probably the only two shows the BBC have left to revive! Personally, I'd prefer to see a Christmas special of a new comedy show rather than an old one, but it probably doesn't matter, because Doctor Who could do better than any of them in the ratings!

I thought Captain Jack was bi - I'll defer to those who have watched the whole series.

Thanks TVDragon for the frontcaps - perhaps it wasn't used last night because there was less flexibility. Wales presumably had to take the Doctor Who countdown, and then they would only have had 10 seconds or so to make an announcement. Unless of course they ditched the ident and showed their "Made in Wales" frontcap - I don't know what flexibility they have to do that though.

But I dont think it was meant to be a passionate sexual kiss.

In Doctor Who Confidential afterwards on BBC3, he explained that he had to kiss the Doctor in exactly the same way he kissed Rose. It was just meant as a loving gesture showing he cared so much for them both, rather than something passionate!

He's from the future, isn't he, Captain Jack? I'm guessing peoples' attitudes will be much more liberal where he comes from!

It wasn't a passionate kiss no. If you hop over the channel to France men kiss each other all the time as a greeting / farewell, it's only the Daily Mail reading prudes in the UK that'll get upset about it.
