Then again there was hardly much on BBC ONE Network - 'This is BBC ONE, the ONE for drama.'

Scotland announcer said exactly that.

So the NI announcer was the only one to actually make an effort.

I had hoped for a special opening ident, but I knew it was very unlikely.

Yes...I thought it was strange Rose being the Bad Wolf. Didn't really understand that bit so I'll have watch that bit of the recording again later tonight!

But it was a SUPERB episode! Truly a world class 45 minutes worth of drama and entertainment. And with David Tennant now in the role, I can't wait for the Christmas episode!

I wonder whether it will on Christmas day?

And I hope today's hot weather has not tarnished the ratings at all, because television like that deserves 20 million watching...although those days are now over! Crying or Very sad

Argh, I can't get the download to work. The sound's fine but the video ain't there - I take it I'm missing a codec or summat.

Back on topic - I don't understand why they didn't just go from the countdown into Doctor Who itself. The hype had been built up, we were ready to go, the clock hits zero, and suddenly we get an ident and a bored announcer telling us ... well nothing, in fact. They didn't need an announcement, and it just killed the momentum. I take it the network and Wales people at least sounded interested, unlike in Scotland, where the announcer seemed more interested in the lottery show.

Well done btw to NI for going their own way.

You'll need the Xvid codec Arrow Link!

"So, intergallactic drama now -- from BBC Wales".

Disappointingly though, he didn't use the special frontcap -- mind you that's been pretty sometimeish all series.

How come the video is like you looking a mirror up side down?

BTW, Andrew, What codec does your clip(s) need? I've got DivX 5.2.1 and had no problems. I'm thinking the problem is that not everyone has the required codec?

AFAIK, if you get AVI converted to a format like RealMedia you minimize the amount of people who will encounter problems -- RM seems to be fairly popular, if not the standard, for clips I've viewed.

I use Realmedia, but a lot of people hate its guts for some reason!

I think the easiest one to use is WMV, as most computers will be able to play it. Mac users can download Windows Media Player too.
