Ahh yes the production values.

I remember fondly just after the hiatus in the Colin Baker era. They tried to make the show look shinier, and spent something like 90% of the shows budget on the opening special effect on the first episode of the "Trial of a Timelord" season. It was actually a very good shot. I think it was the TARDIS being drawn into a space station or something. Shame the rest of the episodes special effects were totally lousy. Even the CSO was bad!

I heard it said that at the time it was the single most expensive special effects sequence in the show's history, but the new series looks like it will have money leftover for the special effects in the other episodes. Just wished the TARDIS engulfed by flames in the latest trailer was going to be in the show. You never know though, they might.

When the makers of Kevin Costner's Robin Hood movie saw the commercial for their movie with a flying arrow, they were so impressed by it that they put it in the movie!!

I was thinking, the tv movie might have gotten a slagging but it seems to have influenced certain aspects of the new series.

It's weird to hear the team say how they liked the first console room the best and yet the new one is more like the one from the tv movie. And with the TARDIS in the opening titles that's like the tv movie as well.

Must say I love the new titles but think the TARDIS flying through space in the tv movie titles was more effective.

BUT I STILL LOVE THE NEW TITLES!!! Very Happy

PLEASE LET THIS SHOW BE A HUGE HIT GOD!!

I thought they were models shots because it looked so detailed, that's something the computer can't quite replicate without looking fake.

Last night's Test the Nation featured a clip from the new series. Although I don't think it's the best clip the Press Office could have given them. Here it is anyway...

I won't admit to shouting about the room when i saw it like most, but it will be great to see some good television on the BBC again. It's been a long time coming!
