From a presentation point of view, it was a masterclass in building anticipation - the combination of the build-up programme and the countdown combined to get us ready for it all (and if anyone has that countdown and can put it up for download, that'd be great). The only disappointment up here was the BBC1 Scotland announcer not sounding remotely interested - this is the most successful programme on the BBC for many years, he had to be up for it. I don't know if network made a bit more of an effort.
The programme itself - a lot of it was telegraphed, but it was still well done, tied up the loose ends, and introduced the new doctor. The new doc didn't get much of a chance to make an impact, but they obviously haven't decided what type of character he's going to become yet, and wanted to keep it a mystery. Fair enough.

On BBC 1 NI -
"The time has come, but the moment has been prepared for. Is this the parting of the ways for the Doctor and Rose?"

Yes, I was on BBC ONE Scotland at the time, there was no reference to the final ep, let alone the Doctor Who series -- and it was quite dull.

An absolutely brilliant episode - a perfect way to end what has been a really good season.

Then again there was hardly much on BBC ONE Network - 'This is BBC ONE, the ONE for drama.'
I'd have thought they would have had a special ident though to end the landmark series. Oh well, we'll have to wait until Christmas and hope there will be a break from those annoying Christmas puddings...
