If you ask me, the idea of masked "Zombies" going and making other zombies of itself stinks of Both 'The Matrix' and Smith's little thinger and 'Bleach' by Kabio Tie (goggle for it).

I hate to draw comparisons (and I aplogoise if anyone else has as I haven't read the entire thread) but this new Doctor Who series reminds me more of Aardman Animations' 'Wallace & Gromit' and series.
In that Rose is the more intelligent Gromit character, and the Doctor through CE is definitely the Wallace character - right down to the facial and bodily movements of the plasticine character.
Every time CE pulls that stupid grin and waves his hands, all I can see is the Wallace character. Even his ears look the same...
As for RTD - he should no longer have anything to do with the series - all the episodes he has had major influence on have been loo fodder. Doctor Who has never been about the companions - it has been about circumstances. Keeping on going back to Rose's past is a complete waste of time, and a poor excuse for finding storylines.
Still, that's my €0.02 worth...

What?
It bears no resemblance to the Matrix whatsoever.
And I don't intend to 'goggle' for anything.

another good episode. One of the shots seemed very similar to the famous photo of st pauls during the blitz. could they have incorporated it into the shot? the blitz special effects were the best of the series.
a couple of criticisms though. as others have said, rose is effectively the lead character. I wont really criticize billie piper, but the tail should not be wagging the dog. also, never mind all the episodes being in or above earth, most have been in london, with one in cardiff. yes we should redress the american bias of most sci fi, but we shouldnt fall into the same trap. if the doctor must visit earth so much, cant he visit some other countries? Casanova showed it could be done on a budget.
also they should have left the skull cracking in, children are more resilent than adults they can take it. will it be restored in the DVD?

I must agree. I almost threw something at the screen when Ecclestone (dopey grin in place) uttered, "I'm good at following, me".
Yeesh.

Don't misunderstand me, I thought the episode was excellent. It's just CE I don't like.

The same here, too.
My (not exactly sober) rant above was probably somewhat harsh. However, I do find CE irritating, and I do think RTD has taken a different slant on DW to what we have been used to - and liked.
Don't get me too wrong, some of the episodes have been great - and I'll certainly keep watching. Though there are some twee elements that it could well do without.

Is it a fact? I've only heard tabloid rumours so far. Usually when tabloids blurt stuff out like this, the BBC will do a press release if it's true. But so far i've not seen one. Is there one?

Notice no-one's yet mentioned the fact that Billie Piper is leaving after series two - and she won't actually be appearing in all of the episodes next series.

Erm, the BBC are on strike. I'd guess that press releases are the last of their worries at the moment.

Piper 'to leave Who series two'
Billie Piper may not appear in every episode of the second series of Doctor Who on BBC One, according to reports.
Piper, who plays the Doctor's assistant Rose, will return for the new series but it is not confirmed for how many episodes, said a BBC spokeswoman.
"With regard to how many episodes she will be in, we are currently story-lining series two," she said.
Christopher Eccleston has already said he will not return as the Doctor - David Tennant will become the timelord.
The return of Doctor Who has been a huge success for the BBC - both critically and with audiences.
But the loss of Eccleston was a blow for the corporation looking to build on the success of the first series.
The show has been developed by Russell T Davies, writer of Queer As Folk and The Second Coming, who is a lifelong Doctor Who fan.
The BBC spokeswoman said plans for the second series had not been finalised.
"It has not been confirmed how many episodes she will be in," she said.
"We are waiting to see the storylines and scripts."
