Ok - moving on to this weekend's episode - the Doctor takes Rose to the spot where her father dies. (NB not a spoiler as the stupid "Next Time..." shots revealed this) Anyone else think good story but a bit insensitive and irresponsible on the Doctor's part? I wouldn't want to see one of my parents killed, god forbid that should happen.
At least Dr Who 2005 isn't shying away from controversy - feeling sorry for a Dalek, letting teenagers view the deaths of their fathers, blowing up Big Ben and Number Ten.... cracking

Well up until the 1980s, Doctor Who was always made for the mainstream audience. It was only when John Nathan Turner took over as a producer that it became wrapped up in it's own continuity and lost it's mainstream audience.
Sort of what Star Trek is like now. Rick Berman IS John Nathan Turner. Only a little less dead.

In a word....YES!! However had he left and the end of Peter Davison's era he wouldn't be so reviled.

Definitely. Infact one of John Nathan Turners stories was voted the best ever story of all time. Peter Davisons last story i believe it was. Apparently he was forced to stay on, he wanted to leave. As you say, if he had left when HE wanted to, he no doubt will of been more fondly remembered.

My first Dr Who was Pertwee, so he's always my favourite. I'm not a massive Tom B fan (heresy I know) although Genesis of the Daleks is my favourite story of his. Davison I relate to because he was young - easier to identify with, McCoy was just darkly entertaining, Colin B was too garish in dress to be taken seriously, McGann was excellent in the role, Troughton was the right balance of comedy and seriousness and Hartnell was too grumpy. Ecclestone - well, he's just
modern
isn't he?

the final two-part story of the new Doctor Who series will featur new new Daleks - that is a complete redesign of the Daleks, rumoured to bare very little resemblance to those with which we're familiar.

Does anyone have last Saturday's ratings for Dr Who versus Celeb Wrestling. I have a funny feeling I know which had the higher ratings but it would still be interesting to know by how much.

If you mean for The Long Game it was 7.51 million to Ceebrity Wrestling's 2.56 million.
