As a long time WHO viewer(I started with late Tom Baker, plus I bought several videos & taped a fair few UK Gold repeats!), I must admit I chuckled when Rose's mum smacked the Doctor one.

I wonder how other Doctors would've handled that situation.

Pertwee would've probably used his Venusian Aikido on her, while McCoy would've done his hypno act on her(See 'Battlefield' for an example of that).

Tom Baker would've offered her a jelly baby!

(Mind you, wouldn't Pertwee gone straight to UNIT anyway?)

As far as I am aware (but not seen the news today) Mr Tom Baker is alive and well and should not be referred to as "late" unless u had a meeting with him and u are still waiting for him to turn up?

The gentlemen in question has a thriving career on BBC THREE.

I think he meant the late tom baker era. In other words the later years of his time in Doctor Who Razz

He's also filming next month the new series of Monarch of the Glen.

And I run his website Razz

But it wasn't all doom and gloom for Ant and Dec at the weekend. Their final Saturday Night Takeaway pulled in 9.1 million viewers on ITV1, beating Doctor Who's 7.6 million on BBC1.

Dec said: "We've really enjoyed this series and it's great to end on such a high."

So there.

Sorry no Broadcast said this:-
BBC1's Doctor defeated by Ant and Dec
The battle for Saturday night viewing intensified this week as BBC1's Doctor Who was narrowly defeated by ITV1's duo Ant and Dec with an average 7.1 million (36%) 6.45pm.

And Mediaguardian said this:-
The final episode of the current series of Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway drew an average of 7.1 million viewers, peaking at 7.8 million when Ant McPartlin was forced to do a Bushtucker Trial and ended up covered in insects.

So God knows what The Sun are talking about!!

Broadcast are claiming that :-

"BBC1's Doctor defeated by Ant and Dec
The battle for Saturday night viewing intensified this week as BBC1's Doctor Who was narrowly defeated by ITV1's duo Ant and Dec with an average 7.1 million (36%) 6.45pm"

Which proves that Ant and Dec can still gain large audiences!

The Sunday 7pm repeat on BBC3 saw a big 50% jump in those watching from last week, it got over 600,000 viewers (4%+ multichannel share) plus as it was Ant and Dec's series finale, many people could have wanted to watch Ant & Dec live, and watch the repeat.

The share of the audience remained stable on BBC1, and also the appreciation index has remained over 80, anything at that type of level is classed as excellent.

"Celebrity Wrestling" next week is unlikely to get 6-7+ million viewers like Ant and Dec did week after week, so a drop-off from ITV's audience, some of who will defect to Dr Who, combined with the 6-7 million Dr Who core audience means ITV could really take a hit on Saturdays.

Well, I for one welcome back lycra-clad women on ITV Saturday night's schedule.
Even since the demise of Gladiators I haven't watched primetime Saturday Night tv for a while.

Ant and Dec is ok but the rest of the schedule on ALL channels has been dire of late.

I for one will be watching the wrestling over some Doctor.....
Did I read that Kate Thornton and Nell Mcandrew are wrestling...?
