I think this would be an excellent move for David Tennament. He was fantastic in Casonova. I think the role would suit him perfectly particlarlly the "Oh Yes" shots.
Any news on Piper?

Billie Piper will most likely appear in the second series, which will be better for her I suppose, as she'll have had more experience on the show now, more than the actor who plays the doctor next. I also think it would be great for David Tennament, he's a brilliant actor, if he does appear that is.

Five Live have been reporting that Billie Piper HAS signed the contract for Series 2 already and will be the new Doctor's assistant.

And more news I've just picked up- Eccleston will play the Doctor in the Christmas Special currently being written by Russell T Davies...if the new Doctor is announced quickly, it's perfectly possible that the Christmas special could show the regeneration of Eccleston into (very probably) Tennant....setting up series 2 nicely.

knowing some of the 'foibles' that Colossus (the automation system) has. It doesn't take kindly to last minute (or even last 10 minute) changes made to the schedule.

Incredible! I remember a junction in the bad old days, before automation was around to "assist", when News were due to do a flash during a junction. They suddenly weren't able to go ahead, a fact they only told us during the down & up to the symbol that was due to lead in to them. A bit of quick thinking and smooth operation by the announcer and the director meant things carried on just fine and the viewers would not have known anything was wrong.

Ain't it grand to know that after 20 odd years of "progress" and Lord knows how many millions of development quid, the whole thing is now in the hands of an automation system that throws a wobbly if you ask it to change anything without 3 weeks' notice in triplicate???!!!

I wonder if the ratings will suffer after Chris Eccleston as quit. The viewers may not buy into the rest of the series after they know why he didn't want to do a second series

For some reason, I'm suddenly reminded of the nodding dog from the Churchill.com ads . . . not sure why!

With the exception of Paul Mcgann in that one off special does this make Christopher Eccelston the shortest serving Doctor.

Shame he's going I thought he was rather good, but his departure will not put me off watching the rest of the series.

BTW either they will 1) stop after those two regenerations or 2) they will change the rule near that time.

Also has the film versions had two diffrent Doctors or do these not count?

I believe the Peter Cushing films don't count as part of the series.

I knew it was a least one different actor not mentioned in the documentary two weeks ago
