Tis a bit embarrasing - I wonder how the regions coped if the promo before Doctor Who didn't fail with them.
Nations Nicky, Nations! And happily, thanks.
PS, Doctor Who was fantastic.

Maybe not ruined, but I sat in disbelief that such a foul-up could have happened on so important a premiere.

Hey, Hey, let's not say SDF is any cop here. Have it my way, SCD woulda died last series.

The first ep of Doctor Who was truly fantastic. Comedy, adventure and gripping drama all rolled into one. BBC deserve to beat ITV tonight with this magnificent new series of the Sci-Fi classic. Strictly Dance Fever was also enjoyable, better than yet another dose of Stars in their Eyes! BBC is again the king of Saturday nights!

Maybe 'ruined' was the wrong word - however it was still very poor after all the hype that the opening was less than smooth.
I know mistakes happen - but for such a high profile show I would not have expected such errors.

I loved it. Even the mistimed trailer/SDF audience noise/"Am I here?" didn't spoil it, a truly fantastic episode all round.
It's odd to think that a 7 year old kid watching the episode today will have no memories of the Paul McGann TV movie, which was how old I was when I saw it at the time...

Okay, embarrassing as it may be, I was expecting a possible problem with the start of the show, because Strictly Dance Fever was live. When they were rounding up the numbers, according to my watch it was already 7.00pm, so I'd imagine that they did the quick Tardis sting and then because there wasn't enough time for the full Hustle trailer there was confusion about whether it should be shown.
It was a shame that everything wasn't kept to schedule but this is forgivable. Regions not opting in at the right time is their own problem.
But the audio problems at the start? How is that even possible? How can a studio gallery be linked to the nationwide transmission of a channel ?? It just seems bizarre! I bet the papers will grab hold of it and call it a 'major technical fault' or something stupid like that. After, what...16 years of waiting... it's marred by Dance Fever not pressing the bloomin' Off button!
I feel sorry for the programme makers especially. After the leak of the episode online as well, this is the last thing they'd have wanted.
yellow.

More like the automation in the new Broadcast Centre **** up again. Just imagine what it is going to be like with the 15% of budget cuts at the BBC, and if BBC Broadcast is privatized, we would have transmission of BBC services contracted outside the BBC, very unwise.

I'm sure the technical crew must have been extremely nervous and the nerves got the better of them. Anyway, the show was definately not ruined by it.

Just spotted this on another forum: . . . . . . .
I worked 14 hours a day, 7 days a week, since September, only to have some idiot at transmission mess up all our hard work. This was meant to be the proudest night of my career. I am absolutely gutted that the only thing that will be talked about will be the Graham Norton voiceover instead of the dramatic elements of audio that we created for the show..

The wonders of automation - no doubt the whole of the BBC will go off air later when the clocks go forward.
