The Daleks constantly returning is p***ing me off. We could do with a couple of years without them.

The BBC have to pay a licence to use the Daleks I believe, so it's only right that they use them as much as they can.

But still, another Dalek led finale...*yawn*

Well yes, I agree, but I was just explaining why.

Looking back at the "classic" series, you never ever saw them as often as you do nowadays... and with technology and creativity at an all time high, surely we can think of enough villains to last a series without bringing them back for at least 2 of the series' episodes!

They're gonna be at this rate more often then Martha is! Laughing

They're using an image of Captain Jack Harkness in an ep of Dr Who / Torchwood as the image for "I'd Do Anything" on iPlayer, as opposed to John Barrowman.

Finally saw that glorius cinema trailer on the telly there, Watch out on BBC News 24 if they have over 1:30 to kill before TOTH, Awesome stuff and we have confirmation of the airing date. April 5th 2008.
On a related note anyone else annoyed that The beeb started out putting premier episodes of Torchwood on BBC 2, then started premieiring it on BBC3 for the relaunch/Martha episodes, and now are not showing the finale.

Indeed. There were only five Dalek stories between 1975 and 1989! The revived series' overuse of the pepperpots is overkill.

True, although this isn't the first time Doctor Who has overused a villain. Look at the Cybermen, Between 1966-1969 they were used five times (The Tenth Planet, The Moonbase, The Tomb of The Cybermen, The Wheel In Space & The Invasion) of which there was only two stories between The Wheel In Space & The Invasion (although they had to repair the damage of Wheel I suppose Wink Laughing ). Pertwee was the only Doctor of the classic series not to get a Cybermen story, perhaps for this very reason so instead he got three Dalek stories in five years.

The new series is due, apparently, on Saturday 5th April 2008, can't wait Very Happy

To be fair he did say from 1975 onwards. I'm not the biggest Who fan, but aren't a lot of those stories from the 60s?

To be fair, the Daleks were overused by Day of the Daleks. Didn't stop colour classics such as Genesis emerging though, didn't it!

The Glam-Rock-Goth's observations:

- On average, there is about a Dalek story for every series of Doctor Who produced during the classic series.

- The Daleks are the most popular villains of Doctor Who.

- Doctor Who is a mainstream series enjoyed predominantly by families. The children of those said families want to see the Daleks. Makes sense to me.

- Doctor Who isn't going to be on proper for a while. Why not send the new series off (albeit temporary) with the greatest foes the Doctor ever faces!

- I love the Daleks!

That is all.

Correct all before Day Of The Daleks are from the 1970's, the five from 1975 onwards are Genesis, Destiny, Ressurection, Revelation, Rememberance. Hartnell's was overkill (6 stories during his reign) much as Troughton with the Cybermen (4 storiesduring his reign). Evil was supposed to have been the final story involving the Daleks but as history shows they just kept coming back.

True they are popular but you can only do so much with them, half the time they are just greatly annoying (Destiny in particular when they are interogating Romana). They have been on overkill at the moment, at least with the Cybermen since The Invasion they haven't overused them. I personally find the Cybermen more sinister & considering in Ressurection they push one out of a first floor window why hasn't it ever occured to people who are held captive by them to ram one into a wall once the Dalek turns it's back?

If anything, if they are going to bring back any more classic enemies how about The Ice Warriors or The Yeti?
