I presume the 71 minute episode (rather random surely 70 or 75 mins would have made more sense) is a tester for 2009 when we have the three specials as opposed to series 5, if that's the case then good, if they're only going to do three specials in 2009 they need to be a bit longer than the norm

Strictly speaking (as there is only 1 doctor, albeit 10 incarnations) the most companions he's ever had on one adventure has been 11:

Susan, the Brigadier, Sarah Jane, Romana, Tegan, Turlough, Liz, Mike Yates, Jamie and Zoe.

I refer of course to the Five Doctors. Laughing

Todays Advent feature is a full commentry for New Earth (which by 'coincidence' was on BBC 3 tonight) anyone use it?

Well what they did was show it with a video cam of the participants. DT RTD and some other bloke in a booth talking about the episode.

Actually it's for Gridlock, not New Earth.
