this finale was an absolute bloody shambles, packed with a ton of plot holes! I could write over 3 posts of what was wrong with this, but I won't, no one will want to read.

Anyhoo, random, but does anyone have a capture of the Titanic side stuck through the wall of the TARDIS?

Thank you. It looked quite good I thought.

Yes, but this time he can't help it being fixed - maybe he'll manually disable it later.

Indeed. The only time ever in “Classic Who” that the exterior of the Dr’s Tardis was shown on-screen as anything other than a Police Box, was in the 6th Dr (Colin Baker) story, Attack of the Cybermen .

The Dr made a very shoddy and makeshift attempt to “repair” the Chameleon Circuit, leading to the Tardis “disguising” itself as things that totally didn’t fit in with its surroundings. (e.g. when it landed in a car-port on a driveway, it “disguised” itself as... a pipe organ!). The Dr seemingly chooses to scrap his dodgy modifacations, towards the end of the story, so his Tardis reverts to being stuck as a Police Box.

I was confused by last night's finale (although that could've been the wine). It was clearer after watching "confidential" on BBC 3, so I watched the episode again.

But I have lingering questions:

Arrow That instruction to Martha must've contained alot of information for her to organise all that (not believable)
Arrow The TARDIS has a forcefield which extends to protect those immediately outside it (Series 1 Ep 13) so a ship crashing through will have to explained.
Arrow If Jack is actually "The Face of Bo" then what happened to his body, why was he later in a tank of liquid, and why did his head become so big and ugly?
Arrow The Master's ring would've melted during his cremation.
Arrow I was just getting used to Martha, why did she have to go, did the BBC cancel her contract?

I think Martha's departure is probably a "red herring". Like many have said, I bet the Doc will be either companionless, or have a one-off "companion" (as per Catherine Tate) in the festive episode, and then Martha will be back next year. After all, Martha did say something to the effect of "we've not seen the last of each other", didn't she? A hint for viewers, if ever I heard one.

They did it once before, in the "Classic Series". The 5th Dr's companion Tegan was left on 1981 Earth in the final story of the 1982 Season, and was reunited with the Dr in the first story of the 1983 Season (set in 1983), two years of Earth-bound life having passed from Tegan's point-of-view, but without being absent from any number of stories from the viewer at home's point-of-view.

I think they're "doing a Tegan" with Martha.

Maybe he decides that having a proper diguise is not worth it, as destroying a ship is too much hassle.

Martha will come back, I'm convinced of it. Her leving for a while just adds a bit of realism - after such an adventure, you'd surely want time to calm down? However, you'd realise that the Doctor's life is a fun one, and want to come back.

Probably the wine.

It may not have been returned to full capacity since the Master cannibalised it.

I think there's another series of Torchwood booked, and it might be explained then. Or Jack could simply tell the Face of Boe that the Doctor is not alone.

It's Gallifreyan and possibly includes special technology. (And I wonder what that hand picking it up was? Did the Master delay his regeneration (like the Doctor did in the 1996 BBC/Fox TV movie)?

She'll probably return after the Christmas special. I prefer it when a series ends on a cliffhanger and the special includes a non-regular companion. Either way she'll be back.

I think your probably right, since Martha looked like she wanted a breather to finish her studies.

She must be very tired too-- where do they sleep on the Tardis? Confused

There are bedrooms, we've seen some of the companions' bedrooms before but never where the Doctor sleeps.

And this particular regeneration wears red nail varnish? Wink

the master's wife could be the Rani a few generations on from Kate O'Mara.

no idea where the quarters are on the new tardis as there does not appear to be another doorway.

also noticed on classic who that some of the companions changed their clothes from time to time, Tegan being one of them
