Yes those are great titles too, and the logo is great as well, but the theme of the Baker/Davison ones just have the edge for me.

Sylvester McCoy's are still the worst, mainly as the middle eight part is in the opening titles. The middle eight was only ever supposed to be heard in the closing theme

And isn't McCoy's logo the absolute worst? Like something from a Saturday morning kids show!! http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n211/cylon1_2006/36_1_21.gif

Yes, I totally agree with that, as good as Rememberance of the Daleks was the logo in the titles, the extreme wobblyness (sp) of the Daleks in motion made it feel to me like a programme shown in Going Live or Live & Kicking

Do you have The Leisure Hive DVD? I don't want to buy it as I don't like the story but there is a feature about how that theme was created. And somebody said to me there was no electric guitar on it!! Shocked

Do you know if that's true?

And would people have viewed Utopia differently had it not had the whole Master stuff at the end?

I do have The Leisure Hive, I did like the episode although found the "son" of the leader very irritating, I was hoping Tom Baker was going to punch his lights out Laughing

I'll have to watch the theme creation bit again tomorrow, I'll let you know then..... Actually:

Well, apart from the novelty of having Captain Jack back in it, there wasn't much of a story away from the Master, but then that was the whole point of the episode, so you can't really make a proper judgement. However, I'd probably give it 4/10 without the master stuff as it was enjoyable, but I find it a bit implausible that humans would still exist at the end of the universe (was it 100 trillion years in the future they said?) and the Prof.'s assistant's appearance wasn't great.

It's amazing that so much work was involved, a bit like when Delia Derbyshire created the original.

Of all the new versions of the theme (apart from the new Who one) I think this one was the best and a great piece of music. I know Davison, Nicola Bryant and Graeme Harper said so on the Caves Of Androzani DVD.

She was a bit underused wasn't she? They'd be better off with 2 half-hour episodes.

Good how they're running with the whole "Vote Saxon" thing on the endboard of the current trail.
