Unless of course you're thinking of the Daleks from the Non-canon movies from the 60s starring Peter Cushing?

The movies that portrayed the Doctor as an old (human) eccentric inventor rather than a timelord from another planet?

Yes. As I said, Non-canon. And he was actually called "Doctor Who" in those films.

wasn't bernard Cribbins in one of those movies ?
RR

Yes, in "Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150 AD" as Tom Campbell.

Reality aside, it would be great to see Tennant on screen with Tom Baker, Colin Baker or Peter Davison, contrasting his geek-chic, pop culture savvy image with the pomp of Tom Baker, the reserved vulnerability of Davison or the arrogant bombast of Colin's doctor.

Sadly was never used on screen in those colours.

A Dalek used to portray the leader of Dr Who's arch enemy has sold for £36,000 at Bonhams in London.
Painted in blue, silver and black and used as Dalek Supreme, it featured on the Radio Times cover in 1983 to mark the 20th anniversary of the BBC show.

In 1980, it took pride of place at an exhibit at Madame Tussaud's waxworks, accompanied by a model of actor Tom Baker as Dr Who.

The model was repaired after being blown up in the Destiny of the Daleks episode in 1979 and scorch marks from the stunt still remain visible under its seat.

In February 1984, it was re-painted black and white for Resurrection of the Daleks before it making its final TV appearance the following year in Revelation of the Daleks.

And to round things off, the re-painted movie Dalek used as the Dalek Supreme in the Pertwee ep "Planet Of The Daleks" featuring a flashing torch as its eyepiece.

Also must add, I'm very impressed with the home made Dalek (post above)

I purchased City Of Death yesterday, watched it today and was suprisingly impressed, the effects on the alien where a bit naff but added charm to the series especially seeing as it was made in 1979.

It was a very different show to the modern series but that's a good thing, plus I can see why Tom Baker was so many fans favourite

On the subject of good episodes, which ones would fellow forumers advise me to avoid.

I have seen "Rememberance Of The Daleks" in the shops quite a few times but have been put off purchasing it due to the Doctor being portrayed by Sylvester McCoy, who, from what I understand, wasn't very good as the Doctor. Is the correct?
