It's sad, but a fantasticly brilliant first Dalek episode was completely ruined by the several more Dalek episodes we've had since. There have been too many Dalek episodes and like Ronnie i don't want to see them for at least 2 more seasons. More original monsters please! And i don't mean the Slitheen!

Some of their monsters have been rubbish.

The Slitheen were great 1st time round. In Boom Town nothing much happened. And shouldn't that slitheen egg have hatched by now?

Jagrafess just killed the Editor with some slime.

The Wire had her dramatic death by[drum roll please]...the Doctor cutting off the sattelite.

The Absorbaloff was alright but he should have been a shapeshifter.

Isolus?Yeah.Stuff of nightmares. Laughing

Professor Lazarus was killed by orchestra music and the doctor should never have done that in the first place. The Doctor was the real villain in that story.

The Abzorbaloff sucked. This season we've seen the Judoon and the Carryonites, which have both been fab, the Macra were bought back in episode 3, which was fab, and these creepy sun people have been great. Scarecrows also look awesome.

And so far, it would seem that the Dalek 2 parter we had has been the worst of a great bunch. They need to focus on using new monsters only, and using the Daleks every 3 series or so, after all, that's what they did during Tom Baker's era, and much of that run was considered the golden era or Doctor Who! Bring on more *chilling* new monsters, not the Abzorbaloff or the Slitheen!

People turning into human gasmasks was quite chilling.... wasn't it?! Embarassed

What was the name of those pterodactyl-type creatures who appeared in the first series, when time had been damaged by Rose saving her father?

Yes, It was created by 9 year old William Grantham.

Yep, the script looked like it had been written by a 7 year old as well.

According to Wikipedia, the monsters in 'Father's Day' were Reapers, although they were only named in the credits, and not in the episode itself.

Yes, a lot of the new monsters ARE good, and that's what they need to focus more on.

Agree, the transformation of Richard Wilson's character into the gas mask "zombies" was great & quite shocking on first view.

The "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" double bill is still one of the best IMHO.

Personally I don't want Tennant to go at all & I hope he stays on for many more series, however there have been alot of murmurs going on, which I KNOW you can't trust but again it does sometimes happen.

EDIT: BTW can anyone recommend any pre-Ecclestone episodes at all, I'm kind of interested in seeing some Tom Baker/Peter Davidson episodes but would like to know which episodes others would recommend, even if it's not those two although John Pertwee ==> Onwards.

Also & I apologise if this has been discussed before but what do/did the different colours of Dalek stand for?
