I like the new logo - its soo retro!

The 2005 series of dr who I liked most, but after that one the format started to get more and more watered down to change the target audience from the original dr who fanbase / older teens / young adult to family/kid viewers which has commercialised the format and made it a lot less "scary".

If the new series is more retro and less kid-orientated then great! (even this year's torchwood has been watered down for kids with children of earth

In my opinion it makes a lot more sense to "water it down" as you put it, and aim it at the widest audience possible.

Start going "retro" and neglecting different segments of the viewing public [the people who made the show what it is today], and figures could plummit.

Also, I thought the 2005 series was one of the weakest personally... almost made a mockery of the show, including Big Brother and such... plus I don't rate Chris as a wonderful Doctor either. Even he made the role into a bit of a clown, and didn't even bother to stay around to see if the show would work or not! Rolling Eyes
If anything it was that series that was watered down, and from Tennant onwards the show grew and became stronger. With episodes such as "The Girl in the Fireplace" and of course, the second best episode in Who history, "Blink". Both of which were penned by 2010's Steven Moffat.

Surprised no one's commented on this week's 'Sarah Jane Adventures', which featured DT as the Doctor?

(Or has that been restricted to the CBBC thread?)

I think that there was quite a significant revelation in that story from The Trickster. He said.....
The Gate is waiting for The Doctor!!
Shocked

I thought that was an older episode - I.e. a few months old. I watched it on iPlayer yesterday and enjoyed it; it was a decent storyline.

I thought it was the best Sarah Jane there's been, and proved that if given a decent time slot it could achieve greater things.

Could quite easily be made into a family product, rather than a kids show.

Does anyone think there ought to be a '11 Faces Of Doctor Who' season inbetween DT's final episode & MS's first episode, even if it's on BBC4?(Depending on whether there's a bit of Matt right at the end of DT's final episode?)

(Similar to the 'Five Faces' season inbetween Tom Baker & Peter Davison in 1981)

What would you choose for the repeats?

Interesting, could work, if the BBC were up for doing it, I would choose for each:

1st Doctor - The Time Meddler or The War Machines
2nd Doctor - The Mind Robber or The Tomb Of The Cybermen
3rd Doctor - The Daemons or The Time Warrior
4th Doctor - The Robots Of Death or Genesis Of The Daleks
5th Doctor - Planet Of Fire or Caves Of Androzani
6th Doctor - Revelation Of The Daleks or The Mark Of The Rani
7th Doctor - Remembrance Of The Daleks or The Greatest Show In The Galaxy
8th Doctor - erm, The Movie Laughing
9th Doctor - The Empty Child (2 parter) or Dalek
10th Doctor - Human Nature (2 parter) or Silence In The Library (2 parter)

I agree with all but the Tenth Doctor episodes... Human Nature probably ain't the strongest. People would probably prefer Blink or Girl In The Fireplace. Oh and possibly Father's Day for the Ninth.

Father's Day is certainly an interesting alternative, I'd say, to Dalek. The Empty Child is still the best of the modern run IMO.

I put Human Nature earlier but actually meant The Impossible Planet (2 Parter), what's your take on that story being show instead? Girl In The Fireplace I'd say yes to, however Blink I would as it's a great story but for one to represent the 10th Doctor I'd say no, if only because he's not in it for most of the story.

Wish they would release The Deamons & Greatest Show sometime soon though, Planet Of Fire is due out next year Smile
