Why can't they do a three-parter?

What do you mean? You mean the current or classic series? there were the odd 3 parters in the classic series. and a 3 parter in the current series would be stupid, 3 45 minute episodes make it the equivilent of a 6 parter. you shouldn't drag on a story too long.

No, the classic series stories were longer than that. A story would last somewhere between four and fourteen episodes (the latter in the case of Trial of a Time Lord ) of roughly half an hour each.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said if you look back a page.

And I think you'll find that all classic series episodes (not inc Colin Baker's 1st season) were between 20-25 minutes long.

Doctor who lasted
25 Minutes (1963 - 1984 and 1986 - 1989)
45 Minutes (1985 and The New Series)

With the classic episodes mainly split into 4 episodes though it can be more.

Not a bad episode tonight... the little montage of Dalek-Humans stomping looked a bit odd, as did the shot of a Dalek from a camera bolted onto it.

Has anyone noticed the aliasing (flickering) on the video this season? Like on newsprint, or the Empire State Building plans, or on the sharp curves of the Daleks - it looks like HD that's been scaled down badly, though Googling tells me that isn't so because of the amount of effects.

I think the flickering on some of the shots looking out of the Empire State building are because they were taken as a still rather than as video. I've seen a similar flickering effect happen on some of my home pictures on a normal camera.

Yeah, it's quite a shame Dr Who can't be in HD due to the special effects, it would look good I reckon.

that stomping reminded me of the 'down and out' song in Bugsy Malone.
(a group of tramps stoming round singing 'down down down down down down and out')

they could have marched out singing 'ex ex ex ex ex ex sterminate'

talking of the human / dalek hybred, if they had time lord DNA as well why didn't they all regenerate when the daleks killed them?

They probably didn't have enough timelord DNA.

It's you. Come on, the Daleks have no hands, but they still managed to build a giant genetic lab Wink
