Can anyone expand on a memory I have of the TARDIS landing inside the TARDIS console room, and each time the Doctor and companion entered the doors, the interior got darker and darker?

Hmmm?

Wasn't that when the Doctor 's TARDIS landed inside the Master 's TARDIS during the Pertwee era [maybe Time Monster ?)

Wasn't the Master's Tardis distinctly different inside? This was the white console room with the roundalls (as above), but as they went inside > inside > inside the room got darker and darker.

I'm thinking Adric was there.

I didn't dream up a Dr Who story, did I?

Your thinking of Tom Bakers last story, Logopolis Smile

He had landed his TARDIS around what he thought was a normal police box but infact it was a TARDIS. And in the other TARDIS was the same as the last but slightly darker.

'Recursive occlusion' springs to mind...

Although they never explained why Tom ended up exiting his TARDIS from the back after all the 'Russian Doll' business.

The Master's Tardis was normally just the main Tardis set painted black. In the Colin Baker story The Mark of the Rani we saw inside the Rani's Tardis, which was completely different to anything else, with mock marble everywhere and a big silver spinning centre console. Total product of the 80s.

One - in the Christmas Invasion, we see the wardrobe room, which has a huge spiral staircase in the centre (it was filmed on the console room set, and they digitally painted out the console itself and added the stairs and a load of extra clothes racks with references to past Doctor & companion costumes)

It's been confirmed in Doctor Who Magazine that after the Easter special that will be it until Christmas. Which must mean there'll be a Christmas Trilogy.

It may look 80's but it looked great, the console would have worked past this story.

BTW how do I make screen grabs from WMP or Real Player, I want to post a screen shot but it doesn't work Mad

Think you need to disable direct draw on media player, then take a screen print.

Ah ok, thanks, I've took some screen shots with my 5mp camera phone just in case that don't work.

It worked

As promised, apologies for the delay Gavin, from the Doctor Who DVD Survival on the documentary Endgame, this was designed by Mike Tucker (of Red Dwarf fame), there were two sketches on there as well, one of a redesigned standard console & one of the floating one but I decided not to post them .

Instead here are screen grabs (for those who haven't seen them) of what could have been for Season 26, had the budget allowed it, bare in mind this was 1990 so it's still quite a way off from today's Tardis console room.

The first two pics were an original mock up done by him, the last two pics were from Doctor Who Night on BBC Choice from 1998, however although Slyvester appears to be in the Tardis it is a close up of a 1:6 scale model of it.

Like the idea of a floating console, hope they do that for the new one (if the rumours are true)

Many thanks.

That floating console is impressive.
