If this was a soap and they wanted to replace a character played by David Tenant, Matt Smith would be a perfect choice.

Oh has it, well I'll try (in vein) to get on there.

I'm not suprised, although the majority of Old Series fans seem more accepting, even if they're not fans of the current run, some of the fans that have only seen the current run think the show will die completely when Tennant leaves Rolling Eyes Laughing

Sorry I might be a bit thick here but are you saying you don't like him as a replacement for the Doctor but would be fine for him to replace a Tennant in a soap opera?

I'm rather pleased with the choice to be honest... yes I like Tennant, but I did want something completley different from the "I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry" years we've come to know as The Doctor.

In my opinion we could see a rather eccentric role come the time of our 11th Doctor, perhaps someone like McGann, whom in my opinion was completley undervalued as the Doctor. Should've got at least one series when it returned... or at least an explination of why Chris appeared! Laughing

No I think Matt will make the part his own, and respects the product enough to do it justice. Roll on 2010!!!

I think it's safe choice not necessarily the wrong one, but it seems they have taken a smaller risk than to go for someone in their 40's or a black actor. I think they choose Matt as he is a similar type to David basically.

Ah ok, fair enough.

I'll be honest I was all for Paterson Joseph to take up the role TBH & was actually expecting someone older than Tennant.

At least it isn't another pretty boy in the role again, not that I have any problem with that, I think Tennant is a great Doctor. But the odd one or two of the fans on Outpost Gallifrey hoped that it would be another good looking fella

However thankfully the Moff has taken acting rather than looks into consideration, plus he does look older than 26 which is a bonus at least

I'll probably be castigated for this, but my first thought on seeing Matt Smith in Confidential was John Merrick - the 'Elephant Man'.

Well let's put it this way, he looks distinctive but then again so did Troughton, Pertwee & Tom Baker, at least he'll have a face you remember Laughing

EDIT: BTW Outpost Gallifrey is still down, a lot of traffic on there tonight then Laughing
