I'm gutted - David Tennant is amazing at playing the Doctor.

Who to take over - hmm.

I hear Russell Brand is looking for work.

No, No, NO Laughing

God he'd be trying to sh*g every companion & alien in sight Laughing

And the last thing Captain Jack needs is that scruffy upstart as a rival!

GMTV has revealed a few ideas. Here's my take on each of them -

James Nesbitt - interesting, got that quirkiness about him.

David Morrissey - appearing in The Next Doctor, might be really interesting.

Patterson Joseph - a black Doctor? Now, that would be a first after Obama...

Rhys Ifans - he's Welsh, won't have to travel far...

John Simm - er, has anyone at GMTV been watching Doctor Who? How can a baddie like the Master become the hero, unless he's the Knackers Yard... I mean, the Valeyard!

So, an interesting start to the rumour mill, but we've got a while till we know the truth. What are your front-runners?

Speaking of ginger - wasn't Charlie Clements (EastEnders) in the frame for becoming the Doctor at one stage?

Well all I can say is that although it's a shame he won't be doing the first year of Moffat's reign I think he's doen the right thing. I don't blame him to be honest, he'd be mad to turn down Broadway.

Wonder who's next? I'd like to see Bill Bailey be the next Doctor, or the next Villain mastermind Laughing

Outpost Gallifrey forums have gone into meltdown, as can be expected Laughing
I know and I'm quite pleased that I broke the story on The Doctor Who Forum, I'm rplon on there by the way.

It's on the BBC website now.

Oh right, I thought I hadn't seen Cylon6 on there, I'm Johnny 1989 on there BTW Laughing

Yes, thanks to the Guardian's slip us Who fans got the heads up before all of those screaming girls on NTA they're reaction made me laugh.

I expect a slight fall in viewers once he's gone Laughing

I wonder, if for Tennant's final story, the viewing figures will exceed the viewing figures for City Of Death (was that the highest viewed episode ever?)
Oh that's you? Pleasure to make your acquaintance! Very Happy

I think it's a real shame Tennant won't be around for Moffat's first series, their pairing would have been gold. Personally I'm with you on this one, ratings might dip for the new Doctor and then build up with good word of mouth. My choice for new Doctor would be David Morrissey.

I think he'd be good as well, the title does give it away after all Laughing

Only thing is though now Teannant's announced he's departing it kind of spoils the is he/isn't he for Morrissey.

That been said though that could still be a red herring.

But as you say it's a shame he won't be doing the first year with Moffatt, then again makes it all the more exciting in some respects Very Happy

There's a new trailer for the Christmas edition of Doctor Who on the BBC Doctor Who website.

Yeah saw that, looks good. Also I think Morrissey would be a good choice as the next Doctor.

Ladbrokes have put in the "female Doctor" again but I hope this doesn't happen. Not a sexist reason at all (which some claim) but the fact is there is female Timelords anyway, Romana was around for 2 & 3/4 series, there's nothing to stop them reintroducing the character, afterall on TV she's still in E-Space so probably wouldn't have gone back to Gallifrey to fight the war.

I still don't buy this whole "last timelord" nonsense anyway, if you can produce ruffians like The Master, Drax, The Rani & even The Doctor & Romana themselves then there's bound to be several that did a runner when the time war got a bit intense
