I like doctor who and I think that David Tennant play the character very well. I think BBC One should change doctor who. They should have series 5 + 6 in 2010. This is why. I love doctor who however I think that it needs to be on more over the year. I think series 5 & 6 should have 8 episodes in them. Series 5 should be shown from the end of March and series 6 from October with the Christmas episode at the end. This will spread the filming process and hopefully David will stay for them.
I also like this idea because when it gets to the autumn I really want it back. It’s probably not a good idea but what do you think?

Thank for reading my idea.

I doubt 2 series in one year would be a wise move, however one series being more spaced out over the year could work... instead of giving viewers a 13 week binge of Whovian goodness, give them an episode every other week or something similar. Would then mean we would only be waiting half a year instead of 3/4 of a year.

How can they make Torchwood a family drama now? What if unknowing parents go out and buy little Johnny the Torchwood Series 1-4 Boxset in the future, and are shocked when their 8 year old is watching aliens killing humans by shagging them or multiple gay snogs or whatever. Has there ever been a show that has changed style that successfully before?

Last night's episode was great. A wonderful conclusion with the right amount of action and slower moments, such as the end. Donna's exit was superb. May she never come back - she's been brilliant and deserves not to keep floating around like Martha and Rose, who I'm just getting sick of if I'm honest. I hate the fact we spent so long saying goodbye to Rose for her to pop up again, citing destruction of parallel boundaries as to why it is possible. Having said that, ignoring the fact she shouldn't really come back, it was great to have everyone.

Why? It works now as you don't get bored of it. And 17 episodes a year? They struggle to do 14.

And so what do they do now? Make a kid friendly version which will annoy people that like its hard edge.

Torchwood never had a hard edge. It liked to think it did but it didn't.

Ok well Jugalug 2x8=16!
I was think more on the lines as littlesmegger so instead of 8 it would be 7. Jugalug this would be 2x7=14.

To be fair if it was made how it was back in the 60's & 70's they could, Hartnell & Troughton's eras used to run most of the year:

Season 1 - 23rd November 1963 - 12th September 1964
Season 2 - 31st October 1964 - 24th July 1965
Season 3 - 11th September 1965 - 16th July 1966
Season 4 - 10th September 1966 - 1st July 1967
Season 5 - 2nd September 1967 - 1st June 1968
Season 6 - 10th August 1968 - 21st June 1969

As you can see the old schedule was very hectic indeed, in fact at least one cast member would be off on holiday every other story. The run from Season 7 was reduced from there onwards averaging at 26-28 episodes a season until Season 22 where there were 13 episodes. However it should be pointed out that the run time of those 13 episodes was the same as 26 episodes that had been in force since Season 19. It's only since Season 23 that they reduced it dramatically to 14 episodes.

There's no way you could do the current series like that now. The current run takes 10 months to make on average & the production results show. That's why you now have a Doctor Lite episode as they now have the extra 14th Episode at Christmas, this year they changed that slightly by having one Doctor Lite story & one Companion Lite story.

Although there is the argument that X-Factor is losing it's edge there are enough people still around to watch it which would damage Doctor Who's figures, I mean look at Big Brother, there's still enough people out there to stick by it to keep it in existance.

I know but that's enough for them, especially if each viewer texts in 2-3 times a week.

Laughing Too true

Regarding what I was saying about some fans on the OG/DW Forums about how much they disliked the finale, some have decreed to say they'll never watch the programme again & that the show is nothing like it was Rolling Eyes Laughing

Again Pad that's not aimed at yourself, you have at least given a reasonable argument as to why, some on there are literally calling for RTD's head Rolling Eyes Laughing
