BBC 1 NI Didn't show the trailer. GAAAAAAAAH

Don't worry - BBC1 UK haven't shown it either!
This cock-up has been mentioned on the website, but remember... they can't show the trailer till it's been given it's BBC1 broadcast. We just have to remain vigilant, that's all...
Or maybe Russell wants us to talk about what's happened rather than what will happen...

Nah I know, part me wanted it too, another part didn't. To be honest I'm glad it didn't, have to say Davros is excellent in this so far.

Well I like the fact the trailer doesn't show what happens with The Doctor just other parts of the episode. And that's the way it should be. I remember Aliens Of London showing a next week trailer straight after the cliffhanger!! Steven Moffat rang RTD and said that gives the game away so from The Empty Child onwards they did a next week clip after the credits, and warning people that it was coming up or didn't do a preview at all.

So many people are crazy for spoilers, as am I, but sometimes it's good to be genuinely surprised. For those last few seconds I had no idea what was going on and it made me even more excited than I would have been had I known.

This was what Eccleston's regeneration should have been for the viewer, an exciting jaw dropping surprise.

I noticed Dalek Cann said...
"Everlasting death for the most faithful companion."
...this combined with the "I'm sorry for your loss... ...which is yet to come" line makes me wonder whether one of the assistants is to be killed off. I also noted a reference to Donna having something on her back, though that may be referring more to the previous episode.

EDIT @ 10:04: A very long shot however whilst Donna is sitting on the stairs in the Shadow Proclamation I couldn't help noticing the beating drum and she was wearing a rather large ring. The person who handed Donna the water also said "you are something new", which is a slightly odd line.

I agree with this actually, the more I think about it, it genuinely was rather thrilling when the regenration started (I had just come back from the pub BTW so that may be why I was more excited than usual when watching it back on DVD) Laughing

EDIT: The OG Forums are still playing up BTW, 24 hours after it's broadcast, certainly got peoples fingers typing has this episode.

Wasn't that random hand that we saw at the end of Series 3 that picked up something, also wearing a rather large ring? If so, was that Donna at the end of Series 3?

With the aid of YouTube and iPlayer I took a couple screen captures. The first is from the end of series 3...

...the following is from the Stolen Planet...

...unfortunately I could obtain a better capture (around 19 minutes), however the ring Donna is wearing also has a green stone. It could just be pure coincidence though that there is some similarity, as I couldn't see the detail.

Also worth noting that in the end of series 3 the female who shot the Master had red fingernails, so that hand may have been hers. According to one of the podcasts 'the current production team had no intention of bringing the Master back, but the scene was included to keep the possibility open for future producers' (lifted from wiki).

I think the prophecy about 'everlasting death for the most faithful companion' is a red herring. Remember that Davros SAID Dalek Caan had lost his mind, and I think it's very possible that the twist will be that 'everybody lives'.

That said, Donna's ring being similar to the Master's, and the drumbeat, is very interesting... remember, also, that John Simm didn't rule out returning to play the Master again.

With regards to the regeneration, my own theory is that the regeneration will be interrupted partway through, creating an 'in-between' Doctor. This Doctor will be played by Bob Holness and will have a penchant for pink clothes and the Google Reader favicon. The actual Eleventh Doctor, produced when the severed hand catalyses the regeneration process, will be played by Matt Damon, carry a blue fedora everywhere, have a Welsh accent, and be the captain of the Gallifrey North Nudist Water-Sports Team (conveniently resurrected after the Time War is unlocked and Gallifrey, moments before its destruction, falls through the Rift and into orbit around our Sun (as in, the newspaper, as Gallifrey is dramatically reduced in physical size when it crosses the Vortex into the Cardiff exit of the Rift. Gallifrey's two new moons will be those of the Page Three girl.)
