Hmm.... good point but that may have been a coincidence. I was wondering, when they mentioned that line back then (Planet Of The Ood seems so long ago now) that they were refering that the Doctor doesn't have much longer in his current form?

Well, if River Song does turn out to be hiswife, then surely he would be called Doctor Song. Hence why the Oods said "Your Song will soon be sung" in episode 3.

As they said in Confidential, nobody in the real world
does
know his name. Good. What an anti-climax it would be. I can exclusively reveal his name is Trevor. Wasn't that good?
I also doubt they know where they will be taking this River Song thing yet - I mean of course Davies and Moffat probably have vague ideas - but remember Kingston is tied up with ER and so on, and is hardly rushing back to do more.

What's to say that she doesn't keep her maiden name?
Also, Time Lord society may not have the custom of "marriage/wedding" (i.e. a ceremony and/or piece of paper), and neither might River's society (future humanity, or other humanoid species (her and her space-suited group are not specifically confirmed as "humans" in the episodes. Are they?))
So, there's another reason why her adopting whatever his name is wouldn't necessarily happen, if they have a relationship.

And who said the family name has to come last. It doesn't in all cultures on this planet.
Ban Ki Moon, for starters!

Unless the original team who created Doctor Who have ever given him a proper name in a sealed envelope somewhere I don't think his name should ever be aired.
