It's the BBC's biggest success of the entire millennium. Do you really think they'd go "Nah, let's get rid of it"?

There's more chance of Mr Blobby being introduced to EastEnders than Doctor Who being axed.

True, they wouldn't let it go. Especially with scenes like this coming up.

I think this could be true as it would be better for it to go out on a high rather than for it to go downhill and end up being crap.

But if it does end in 2008 will this be the final series ... ever, or will it come back another 10-15 years later, after the BBC has realised they have made a mistake!

I thought we were going to see that the Doctor had a son, so that when Tennant leaves the whole, only allowed 13 regenerations is sorted. If that is the case, then why would they axe it.

I think if they were going to axe it, the Doctor's death would be good, even though it's Sci Fi and anything can happen. I don't want them to axe it, I would like to see the BBC make it for autumn, watching it a 7pm when the sun is still up has a detrimental effect to the Ambience.

That was The Sun or one of the others taking a throwaway line and running with it. It's not like a son is the only way they could get around the limit, when it finally does come around (in about another 10 years). RTD's flat out denied it (but then he would, wouldn't he...? Wink )

The Executive Producer of Doctor Who, Russell T Davies, has debunked that in an interview a couple of months ago.

This whole rumour about no Series 5 was started when Doctor Who uberfan Ian Levine posted on his discussion forum that he had heard from at least four independent sources that David Tennant, Davies and the other Exec Producer Julie Gardner, along with Producer Phil Collinson would all be leaving at the end of Series 4, and that BBC Head of Fiction Jane Tranter would not allow another production team to continue the show. A few other people elsewhere claim to have head the same whisperings as well.
