You only pay for the receiver (and the aerial if you need a new one) and that' s it. No other charges.
All the channels except the ones on Top-up TV are free to receive.
Same idea as you buy a telly, tune it in and just watch.

What has everyone got against price-drop? Price-drop is fantastic, especially the Price-Lock and it's got good idents.
I don't mind Ideal World either,if they've got something good on there.`

Used to watch a lot of Price-drop, but it's a pile of pants now. The best presenter has gone off to pastures new and those who are left seem now not allowed to interact with one another as they used to. Still, it's saved me money.
Wouldn't be devastated if that went too.

The reason why they have +1 channels is if you got back when Big Brother had just finished on E4,you could turn over to E4+1 and watch it.

IF I had to remove five channels to release some bandwidth for other much better channels I would get rid of the following stations:-
1) E4+1 - a total waste of bandwidth and most stuff is shown a few times a week between C4 and E4 - it is total extravagance having a +1 channel on freeview with bandwidth at a premium.
2) FTN - never to seem to broadcast anything decent apart from some very old Most Haunted from the Living TV schedule.
3) The Hits - there is only need for one music station on Freeview. They both seem to have quite a similar playlist and don't really compliment each other.
4) UKtv Bright Ideas. Some of the programmes are ok but there is nothing being shown that you couldnt watch (more upto date) version of on BBC1 daytime!
5) Ideal World/Bid-Up/Price Drop - yes i'm getting rid of all three in one. Surely QVC is more than enough already?
