Can I just say how surprised I am that no action has been taken on the Jetix website to inform viewers that, effective tomorrow, the station will no longer exist.

There are people still joining (today!) the "hub" part of the website. Posts have not been made about the closure, and the website could possibly disappear without warning tomorrow, and presumably, re-direct to DisneyXD.co.uk.

I know that the advertising is now only for DXD on the site, and especially on the channel, which now seems to broadcast ads in 16:9 widescreen (presumably in the run up to the launch of DXD's HD content) and has replaced the Jetix logo with a DXD logo in the bottom-left saying how many days till launch.

People will be left stuck wondering what happened to Jetix if they think that Jetix is just advertising DXD as another channel, even with all the advertising saying "stick right here".

why is Disney re banding the channel? I know this comes form the Disney take over from the Fox family channel.

I would like to know how this fits in the Disney channel family, saying that Disney not that great in the first place now adays!

They took over Fox Family years ago, in the States, Fox Family became ABC Family. It was their decision to rename Fox Kids to Jetix, but AIUI the 'Disney XD' brand is being rolled out everywhere, so I guess they wanted to keep the service open albeit with the Disney name.

The main reason for the rebrand is it seems they're trying to make Disney Channel into more of a female targeted channel, with the more male shows being moved to Disney XD, and as part of that it seems they wanted a brand that was clearly Disney.

I would be surprised if there are many viewers that don't know about the change, they've been advertising it for a good few months now, particularly in the last week or so with many ads appearing on other channels (the Channel 4 ones off the top of my head), as well today on YouTube. Plus, it's hard to miss it with the large Disney XD countdown DOG on the channel.

Even though Jetix will technically no longer exist from tomorrow, it doesn't make much of a difference, as far as I can see it's the same shows they've always had with a few new ones.

Disney Channel UK copies so much of its American operation now it's hard to believe there was a time after its 1995 launch date that it aired a load of stuff that hadn't been made in America, in addition to more grown-up stuff. 8 Simple Rules and Home Improvement used to air on Disney Channel UK until both were farmed off to ABC1.

These days you look at the Disney offerings and it's solidly aimed at pre-teens and all built round Suite Life, Hannah Montana and Recess. Mind you, Nickelodeon seems to turn more and more into it's American counterpart every day with the amount of American programming showing.

It's a tragic show of the times when the only new mainstream children's programming in this country is being produced by CBBC. Nick UK doesn't make programming anymore, ITV scrapped their own department, Cartoon Network became too fragmented after CN2 and Boomerang, and Disney UK's only "production" if you like seems to have been the live-based Studio Disney presentation wrapper from a few years ago.

What kind of viewing figures do the Disney channels get here?

I'm sure they'd make more money in the long term if they closed their channels down and allowed the BBC, ITV, et al to start showing proper Disney films instead.
