A bit of a strange topic, but vaguely relevant to presentation.

Having seen this at The Continuity Booth...

...it's got me wondering. How long has Disney had its current logo? Is the logo used in this image an old one? I can only ever remember the signature-style logo which is used now.

Thats a very old one. I believe that one was used at the start of films such as Snow White and early short cartoons.

The script was introduced later when technology allowed it too. This first one was simply cartoon drawn text. The signature was based on Walt's (not sure if it is a neatened copy), and has been added to re releases of old films along with the now traditional castle.

TCB says it was made by LWT for use before Disney films in the 1980s.

That animation was, yes. The Disney in that drawn font features along with WALT preceeding it at the start of most old disney short films before the charcaters face pops up (unless no well known character is used in which it is just a title cartoon board is added).

Didn't Lambie Narin design the current 'mickey mouse' ears logo?

I'm not too sure about that. They definately did the idents for The Disney Channel UK though.

I dont know either. Surely it would be up on their site if they did. They did the set of idents before the last. Im unsure who did the last ones also.

The current set is the graphic set bought over from the states, they decided that they wanted their branding to be carried on all of their channels, as it now has. The previous set on disney channel uk were used across Europe, with australia using the same idea adapted to their own designs.

I think Fox Kids also takes their idents from the USA (hence the first three sets always having "Fox Kids Presents" annos) - do any other channels, such as Nickelodeon, Paramount, or National Geographic, do the same?

Fox Kids doesnt exist anymore in the US. Its ABC Family, the former name of Fox Family.

What Fox Kids things are these anyway? The ones that ive recently seen are the usual coming up things with the play button with the english voice saying (name of show) in 15 minutes or next.

And after shows they show the animated Fox Kids logo doing stuff like swinging on a swing, rock climbing, drinking milkshake and killing a cockroache to then see an army of them.

Im not sure if national geographic use american graphics. Nickelodeon use their own graphics, the mainly orange ones, and paramount comedy also have their own uk graphics, the big blue cube.

They must've taken their lead from BBC2. The first few sets of idents were certainly American though. And have you seen www.foxkids.com - I thought it was only Fox Family, not Fox Kids, which had gone - but Fox Kids has changed it's name, but not to ABC - it's FoxBox now apparently, I just checked. Strange that - it's shows are a combination of our Fox Kids, and Cartoon Network! Sky ought to rename the UK version as Sky Kids, since the US counterpart is no longer owned by NewsCorp.
