So is it just the content from the channels which will be on Disney+ or will they have those channels live on their platform like they used to on Disney Life? I do remember being able to watch the linear channels on Disney Life as they were being broadcast on Sky & Virgin

There's a significant chunk of Disney Channel series content already on Disney+ including the older 4:3 stuff that I dare say the linear channel doesn't air anymore. Its been there ever since it launched in April, with some more recent series added at a later date.

I assume Spider-Man: Maximum Venom will be Disney+ exclusive then - it hasn't finished in the US yet, therefore Disney XD here hasn't been able to show it. I expect there'll be other shows across the three channels in a similar situation.

I can't see anything currently in the Disney Channel, Junior and XD schedules not also being on Disney+.

Essentially, Disney is going the "BBC3" route of replacing it's linear offerings with a more cost-effective on demand solution.

See, it's Disney that can get away with it because ratings were low on the channels (especially Disney XD) and they already have Disney+ on Sky Q anyway so customers won't feel left out. I'd imagine there would be some link-up with Sky Kids so that Disney content is still accessible through the Kids mode but that's what I hope.

According to the Accessible TV Sky Guide, which goes slightly beyond the normal 7 days Sky EPG, this will be displayed after the 1st of October at 00:00 UK time :

Disney Channel/Junior/XD closes on 30th September

From October 1st, Disney+ will become the new home for Disney Channel, Disney XD and Disney Junior content in the UK. For all Disney Channel content queries, please email: DisneyPlusUKpressoffice@disney.co.uk.

Now, I don't think that will be kept for some days as a slide on the EPG (after the 1st of October), I just think that might well be a notice for those looking for programmes after the 30th of September, as I don't think Sky can keep, according to the laws they created EPG-wise, a channel showing no programmes 24/7.

For instance,BBC Three, after shutting down and keeping an informative slide for 1 week or something like that, had to keep showing programmes (a minimun of 3 hours if I remember correctly) in the early hours of the morning, so yeah, as typical of Sky, the channels will likely be removed from the EPG the morning (10/11 typically) on the 1st of October

The final programmes listed are

Disney Channel - 2155 - Descendants 3,
Disney Junior - 2330 - Gigantosaurus,
and a nice touch on
Disney XD - 2350 - Disney Mickey Mouse.

Apparently on 1 October CBBC and CBeebies are moving to occupy 607/608 on the Sky EPG, so there won't be anywhere for Disney to broadcast a slide.

Except they can since they own numbers 609 to 611. It's just that the Disney Junior EPG slots (+1 included) will have to be cut come 1st of October.

Sky rules though don't allow a holding slide unless they broadcast programmes for at least three hours a day. At least those were the rules when BBC3 closed, but continued overnight for a couple of weeks to enable the BBC to point people to it online.

Virgin Media has managed to close down all the Disney Channels a day early with a holding slide saying "Disney Channel is no longer available in the UK".

What? But why!

DC in particular, still had a marathon of movies to show

And I was so looking forward to the movie marathon as well. Oh well.

Disney XD, +1 and Disney Junior is the same.

Sky doesn't even care about justifying the loss of the Disney channels, since they have Disney+
