I like the idents.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind dropping the Discovery branding? Apparently they did this in 2002 for the US channel, but kept it for all the international versions.

This is the US channel, not the UK. Both the thread title and opening post are misleading.

Reminds me of 2000 Today logo.

The logo in use now has to be one of my favorite logos of all time. The new logo looks horrible compared to the current design.

So it is, although these idents would work just as well for Discovery Science.

The last change to the logo for the international channels brought them into line with the US channel, so here's hoping. Although I agree with what others have said: I quite like the current branding.

The new logo lacks a certain something, can't put my finger on it at the minute. The old one's periodic table style really fitted in well with the science theme, but the new one looks more like science for children.

looks like something straight out of the 1990s. I much prefer the 'Sc' logo, looking like an element off the periodic table seems to be more in keeping with what the channel is about.
