I misread the start of the video and thought they were calling their own channels "desperate"!
I think Quest Red could do with a different name. They could bring Discovery Life to the UK as it is already a US channel and I think that Really and Quest Red overlap too much, even their channel descriptions sound similar.
Really - "Extraordinary stories of life's everyday heroes, real-life drama"
Quest Red - "Real people, real lives, real-life entertainment" (sounds like the opening of Judge Judy!)

If it wasn't for the existing KISS TV/radio brand in the UK, the DKISS name used in Spain would have been ideal to rebrand Quest Red, to compliment DMAX.

This is the same look HGTV launched with. On Quest and Quest Red, at least, the DOG is ridiculously large, and there’s been a couple of instances where there have been two IPPs on screen at the same time, both promoting the same programme. Some seriously flawed execution here.

Since when has Quest HD had the 'HD' tag added onto the dog?
Was not there when this recent rebrand across the fta channels launch a few weeks ago otherwise I would have noticed.

I seems new, trying to think back, I don't remember seeing it a few days ago, although it could have been there and I didn't notice.

There was no HD on the dog from my viewing/recordings on Tuesday just gone, so it must have been added between Wednesday and now?
I wonder if its to do with the HD feed due to move frequency on freeview, and they are hoping new eyeballs might notice Quest is now/also in HD?
Or due to PICK HD (a rival to discovery fta channels) about to launch? Its Quests way of saying 'we're HD too dont you know'?

Curious here: I noticed today on Virgin Media that Quest Red/DMAX had the widescreen bars on this morning/afternoon (I changed channel and bars we're not on the other channels), I looked on the same channels on Freeview and picture was normal? (settings on VM box has stayed the same since getting it and this looked more of a first I have seen it on 2 channels)
Any ideas or has there been a feed/transmission issue on Virgin Media only?

Is it still there now? Because it isn't for me.
If so, I think it must be problems at Virgin's local headends (if they still have them). Earlier this year I had this problem where Challenge was cut out in the centre - as in the full 4:3 frame was widescreen, but not stretched. The DOG was cut in half, and lower third graphics weren't visible on shows. However, this didn't affect Challenge +1. And after I posted on digital spy, no-one else was having this problem, which made me think it was local.

I don't regularly tune into those channels, but thats what I thought could be at local level at Virgin as mentioned even Discovery's sister stations and other stations had been in display correctly! (weird you mention +1 channels as when I went over to DMAX+1 after watching a show briefly it was in correct format...). Checked earlier both FMAX/Quest Red normal picture (no bars)... must have been a playout issue from VM....

Food Network+1 has an interesting DOG. The +1 section is dark whilst the rest of the text is transparent and then it changes colour depending on the colour of the background on screen but the rest of the DOG doesn’t. Looks like the colour of it changes all the time. Wonder if that’s intentional or a quirk.
