So on April 1st, Discovery decided it was time to spruce up their global branding by introducing a brand new logo for the first time since 2008.

So this is their brand new logo and it will be a global refresh so pretty much every Discovery Channel around the world, including the UK and Ireland will adopt sometime throughout 2019.
What do you guys think of the new logo?

Huh? Given the date, I thought it was a joke?

It feels very retro.

I'm interested to see how it looks on screen.

Discovery Channel UK (along with some others in EMEA) hasn't had a proper new look since the arrival of the current logo, so this refresh will definitely feel "fresh"

Yeah, it'll be a welcome refresh of the channel, will put it in line with the modern, flat-inspired branding their sister channels have.

Not a huge change. Hopefully if they update all the on screen logos they can all be positioned properly on screen and not floating too far out from the corner.

Isn't that the same font Digital Spy went with, or something very similar?

Sadly not an April Fools, as it's appearing on their American Twitter account.

This obsession with flat design* has gone too far. How can that ugly 2D rendering of the Earth be considered anywhere near as nice as a full colour CG rendering?

*insert flat Earth joke here
Stuart, Brekkie and Sh1ruba gave kudos

But if it's going to be used on screen and at such a small resolution, no-ones going to notice how nice it looks as it'll be tiny.
