I can't be the only person here who thinks . . . there's really way too much Poker on telly . . . !

Have a look at this sample of tonight's schedules:

ITV1 (Sky EPG 103) - 23:25 to 00:30 - All Star Poker Challenge.
Yet another celeb based show on ITV1. Minor celebs play poker . . . yawn!

Challenge TV (Sky EPG 121) - 23:05 to 00:50 - World Poker Tour Hollywood Special.
US version of what's just been on ITV1. American minor celebs play poker . . . yawn x 2 !

Bravo (Sky EPG 124) - 00:00 to 01:30 - PartyPoker.com Poker Den
No celebs, minor or otherwise taking part here. But still total yawnsville!

Discovery RealTime (Sky EPG 133) - 00:00 to 01:00 - Late Night Poker
A re-run of something that was shown years ago on (IIRC) C4. More yawns!

If that lot ain't bad enough . . . there are two channels devoted to the game!

PokerZone (Sky EPG 226) - 22:00 to 03:00 Poker Night Live
Five hours of poker. Somebody please gimme some caffeine!

The Poker Channel (Sky EPG 265) - 00:00 to 01:00 Killer Bluffs.
Don't know much about the game, so I can only imagine how dull that show is!

The Poker Channel (Sky EPG 265) - 01:00 - 03:00 Poker Night Live
Is there really any need to simulcast the last two hours of what's on the other channel?!?

I've nothing against Poker having a dedicated channel, at least I can avoid it. But this lot is just overkill!

I don't watch ITV often, but I think ITV seems to be rather obsessed with this celebrity poker crap. It sends me reaching for the remote or the off button on my TV everytime it comes on.

i dont think know who you can say its rather ubsesed with celeb poker as the whole series is only a week old and has never been on that channel before, any way why complain about multi channel television you cant they only show it becuse it does well for these channels, there is loads of other stuff out there thats the whole piont of multi channel television.

Well ITV have only aired their first series of All-Star Poker (note the C word has gone!) and it began last Monday night and has already finished.

I just see this thread as another attempt to 'have a go' at ITV.
ITV must've realised that there is quite an appetite for late night poker and have tried out their version of it. I watched some of the grand final last night and it was alright. All the poker programmes are of a very similar quality and suits the late nighttime slot.
I would rather see something like this on ITV1 at night rather than endless repeats of Trisha, today with Des and Mel etc etc.

"Star" seems to be the new word for celebrity. It's all the same really, but to me, "star" suggests less of a "C-rated" celebrity but maybe a "B-rated" celebrity but we all know with it being ITV, the word star is just being used as a synonym for Celebrity.

the reason it was not called celebrity poker is becuse that is a name of a british show made by challenge and i dont think they would of been very happy if ITV took it.

The original poster said why is TV obsessed with Poker, not why are ITV obsessed with Poker! Why is this thread turning into a generic ITV bashing thread yet again!
