My original digiguide thread seems to have dropped off the forums, so I'll post this here.

My trial period is just about to expire, do I get an email asking if I'd like to subscribe permanently or do I just have to fill out an online form and they'll know that it's me registering for it by the email address I gave for the trial period?

Thanks,

(This is stage 1 of my quest to register Digiguide - stage 2 is persuading my dad to let me borrow his card to pay the annual subscription fee!)

You fill out an online form - they give you a registration key (a load of number and letters) which you type into the registration box.

I think you'll get an email too but I'm not sure.

When your trial period expires it'll stop working and direct you to a website where you buy a registrationo key which will be emailed to you. If paying online by credit/debit card you get the key upon completion of your registration.

Make sure you keep the email in case you need to enter it again at any point.

If you would rather not pay online, you can also pay by cheque, postal order or even cash (see note at bottom of page).

Please make the cheque or postal order out for £6.99 [per year up to five years] (pounds sterling) and payable to GipsyMedia Limited, then post it to the exact address below along with the following information:

your full name
your address
the number of years you wish to register: _ years
your e-mail address: '_______'

GipsyMedia Limited
DigiGuide For Windows Registrations
First Floor Office Suite
17 The Strand
Exmouth
Devon. EX8 1AF. United Kingdom

We will then e-mail you your registration release key by return.

Important note: no change can be given when sending cash, and sending it is at your own risk. We cannot accept any responsibility for cash lost in the post.

Right, managed to persuade my dad to give me his Switch card details, I just tried entering them and it gave me a W331 error code saying that the card details were either entered incorrectly or the card's credit limit has been exceeded - tried for a second time and still no luck - the card has NOT exceeded the limit and the details WERE entered correctly... Tried phoning the company (in the unlikely event that there'd be someone there on Sunday) and no luck... (no sign of any opening hours on the website, either)

Don't know what's wrong, will have to try again either with a different card, or phone them tomorrow morning with the same card I just tried using - it's not urgent as I still have about 11 days left, but I just wanted to get it over and done with!

(Edit): Well I can cancel the idea of using my Mum's card to pay for it as she "doesn't like putting in card details on the net" - even on a secure system! And before anyone says I should send a cheque instead, It's a lot easier to do it by card at the moment while the postal system tries to get back to as normal service as possible!

Hi James, I don't think DigiGuide accept Switch cards. I think they only accept Visa and Mastercards. Don't quote me on this, but most websites/online stores don't accept Switch cards for some reason, apart from Amazon.co.uk.
Alternatively you could try posting your problem on the DigiGuide forums where they should beable to help or maybe browsing the FAQ's on the DigiGuide website.

According to their online order form they do:

They have the logos for Switch, Visa, Solo MasterCard & Delta.

eh? Loads of British sites take Switch. I paid for my registration using Switch. If they didn't take Switch they wouldn't give you the choice when they ask you to accept your type of card.

Did you point out that it's safer paying online than letting the waiter in a restaurant run off with your credit card for 5 minutes?

Many places do take Switch, but credit cards are cheaper and easier to process online than debit cards so for that reason some places (especially smaller operations) don't take Switch. A Visa Delta debit card is however usually taken because it can be processed as though it was a Visa credit card.

Digiguide do however take Switch, I've always used it to pay my subscription.

Right, sent an email to Digiguide earlier and I got a reply within about an hour giving me one month free because of my problem and they said that when the postal backlog clears to send them a cheque...

Now that's what I call service!

Well that was nice of them!
My year runs out on 1 December but I'm waiting until then to renew, because if I renew now I'm thinking it'll be a year from today rather than a year from when my current subscription runs out.
