I think the show is pretty sick myself, but it's widely being misreported by critics along the "Who Dies - You Decide!" line - when it's really "I'll die - I'll decide"

Spot on. This show is being badly misreported (partly, it has to be said, because Endemol themselves have been spinning a line to stir up controversy). The format is this: terminally ill patient meets three people who need a transplant, chooses one to receive it. There is a phone vote but it does not affect the outcome. Let's get this straight: THE PUBLIC DOES NOT DECIDE. There's still ethical questions about this of course, but they're not the ethical questions people have been seizing upon.

This isn't the only weird and odd show Bart's Neverending Network has produced, I'm not quite sure if people outside of Germany were suprised by "Neuken doe je zo" ("This is how you f**k!") - a miniseries giving sexual information in a way that would appeal to the teenage demographic

But still, this is one of the stupidest ideas ever! Whoever thought of this idea should be fired now!

I despise reality TV shows, even more so now because they are running along side such sensitive issues as organ donation and death!

Bad ethos.

Bring back the reality TV show!

'TV company Endemol says a reality TV show featuring a contest to win a kidney is a hoax.'

Just listening to the Managing Director of Endemol Netherlands defending the show on CNN now

Well, no one can say it hasn't done what is set out to achieve - not just in the Netherlands either!

It's a 'worthwhile' hoax if it raises awareness of the lack of organ donors in most 'rich' countries. If it inspires people to give their organs/become donors to help others after their own death, that can only be a positive thing.

Compared to some other Endemol shows, this would have been a pretty tame (and lame) format even if it was real.

Even though it's a hoax does anybody else feel that it's still rather tacky?
