At least there were some relatively alive bungalowheads today!
And now...a question. Were you a CBBC or a CITV child? Or were you a freelancer? Razz

I can remember always watching CBBC - occasionally I watched CITV for uh...ZAP but except that I was a Studio 9 kid. And you...?

I mainly watched CiTV. Always watched all of there output. Strayed to CBBC for programmes that I liked, and after 5:10 (when CiTV had finished).

What are they using instead? Back to the old red/purple/blue background animations?

I just noticed the discussion about NC3. What follows is based on intelligence gathered over the years as well as three visits in 1990 and a few weeks' work experience on CBBC in 1991...

This was at one time referred to as "Sub Control" and was situated at the end of a spur corridor from the old 4th floor area, next door to the dedicated OU con/playout suite.

OU con was rather unusual as the announcer was responsible for running the tapes themselves - Umatic IIRC - from machines actually in the continuity booth! This explains why there's always so much noise in the background on old OU continuity clips. When we visited OU con my guide even let me animate the electronic OU symbol!

Aaaanyway - NC3/"Sub Control" differed insofar as the Network Director et al were some way down the corridor, rather than next door as with NC1 / 2. Both NC3 continuity and gallerey had much older equipment than NC1/2.

Phillip Schofield coined the term "Broom Cupboard" during a stint in NC3/"Sub Control" as it was much smaller than the NC1/2 con booths.

NC3 also had a window looking out onto the roof of TC6 (I think!) (hence the large brown pin boards placed immediately behind the presenter whenever Children's BBC were in there) and is these days the site of a viewing room in the current DTA playout area (in which the roof suspended ceiling once collapsed, I believe)!

If anyone wants to chat more about the old area or the early days of CBBC Presentation you can e-mail me at yockenthwaite@btinternet.com.

What happened to all the presenters?

In 2002 they had a different pair of presenters each day, no all we have is Andrew and Angellica (Kate when Angellicas not there) but its good to see Jake presenting.

P.S. Barney gets on my nervous

Well as we all know that Michael U. switch from presenting CBBC to presenting CiTV and now various CiTV programmes.

As for the others I'm not certain.

By the way on the Sunday before CBBC relaunched (as such) they did a brief explanation of which presenters would be doing what slots.

I remember they had the 6 presenters in the studio (I cannot remember names) but they said that...
- 2 of them would be presentering on the CBBC channel
- 2 would be presentering the CBBC Breakfast show
- 2 of them would be presentering on the CBBC on One in the afternoons.

This is probably why you will see the same 2 presenters on in the afternoons.

When they first relaunched in february 2002 it was

Jake & Sophie on the CBBC Channel (they did it live 7-7 the first two weeks as it was half term, they then pre recorded till the afternoon)

Fearne Cotton & Ortis on CBBC One afternoons. As it was before Andrew came and Angellica was presenting X Change on the channel. It then went back to Angellica who presented with Ortis, Jake, then Andrew. Barney joined Sophie on the channel when Jake went to CBBC One.

Through the first two weeks (which were half term) Dick & Dom presented the breakfast show on CBBC Two, tho i don't know what happened, whether they continued or what.
