Whilst were on the subject of CBBC studios, just thought I'd point out that Studio 9 used to be the old make-up store apparently! (just in case you didn't know)...
CBBC on Prime uses the purple CBBC Two set of ident and comes from the same TC9 set. The presenters tend to be CBBC Channel people such as Gemma Hunt and Mohini Sule.
CBBC in TC9 was still part of BBC Presentation until a few months before the February 2002 relaunch.
Anyone got pic of the larger studio, I think it may have been Studio 9 in its early form, as it wasn't that long before they moved out of the broom-cupboard.
That would have been Pres A, just around the corner from the BBC1 transmission suite. They stayed in Pres A for quite a while after leaving the Broomcupboard.

By the way is the broom-cupboard still used for BBC voiceovers?
No, it stopped being used in 1995 IIRC, and is no longer there.
I believe Pres A was used from 1994 until 1997, a few months before the BBC logo changed from slanted to straight. I also believe it was given a revamp in September 2001 (I have the unveiling of it on tape somewhere) and then it changed again with the launch of CBBC/Cbeebies in February 2002.

Studio 9 was good when they first moved in 1997. I remember that they had a Studio 9 logo, where the '9' was stylised in a similar style to the 'CHILDREN'S' text. And then a few months later they changed to yellow!
It was right wierd when they moved into Studio 9, though they did use more of the space.
The video wall was pulled out of Pres A and positioned to shape like a number 9. They also had a red doughnut (or was this 9 shaped) sofa thing infront of it. They they had the massive desk up the top corner by the glass brick walls. A small space to the left of this, and then what they called the 'Virtual Reality Chamber'.
Though from all I could see it was a metal tunnel with metal benches leading to an enclosed room with a CSO screen in there.
What have they done with the rest of STUDIO 9 since the bugs came? They have the seats and monitor to the left of the lift (why is this still here when the CBBC Channel have gotten rid of theirs?), and then it stops. Before it was long and to the doors with yellow handles. What do they use this sectioned off area for?
They used to get really excited about things in Studio 9. And a lot more seemed to go on, through the year and around the programmes. I remember one afternoon when they had redecorated the phone area from the yellow (with that centre rocket shaped thing with seats and monitors) to a blue space theme. They were so excited they spent the whole afternoon there. When it snowed, they would do the final links in the snow. They don't use the BP garden at all anymore. It looks lovely lit in the dark (as it is when they finish at 5:35).
Ahh, I grew up in the fab days of Studio 9 - and I miss it sorely. I can't quite describe it, but everything was so fantastically uncorporate and inconsistent about it! Nowadays, links are static - little more than 'that was X, and next is y' when before I was quite convinced they lived in S9.
Going back to the *MAIN* topic - this weekend's D&D. A very disappointing group of bungalowheads. Lewis should be knighted though - he saved the day from miserable old Amy. She only came because she heard food was available...

I think that the fact that a lot of CBBC's output is pre-recorded doesn't help... bring back the broomcupboard!

AFAIK the '9' is still there.... at least it was last time I was there
