Don't know if anyone caught this on Saturday but at the start of Dick N Dom in Da Bungalow when they introduce the kids. One of them said they didn't like the News. So they thought they would make it interesting to get a parody of Huw Edwards on the telly and he told the kids to make it more interesting was to do the BBC News dance which was basically the news theme speeded up. It's quite funny as you see all the kids dancing away in some rave version.

The clip can be found
here Audio wise, it's not the best of clips but the visuals are the best of it.

I ask what is the point of that? If they're going to make fun out of it at least make it modern and realistic - they had the background from three years ago, they had a presenter from ITV (Trevor McDonald) and as for the other one (Fiona Bruce?) looked nothing like her. The Fiona Bruce off of Dead Ringers was better and she just went over the top.

Aside from this, how is that sort of thing going to get children interested in politics and current affairs? It isn't.
I don't mind a joke and a laugh and making fun of BBC items (especially the BBC ONE idents which I am a big fan of) but, unsurprisingly, people take it too far...as usual.

Now that was the way to do a spoof. Similar yet not damaging and, thankfully, not over the top.

Me thinks you are looking at this the wrong way. It's only a bit of light hearted fun. It's not suppose to make kids like the news and politics and such.

Perhaps I overreacted but still my point is there...

Yes but this is Saturday morning childrens TV, so you cannot really expect anything particularly good. Though a surely a more up-to-date picture of Huw in the BBC News studio could have been found.

Also who isn't Trevor McDonut not a BBC newsreader but one of Lenny Henry's character? Razz I think there are many 'BBC News' inaccuracies if you wanted to find them, but it was amusing to here the version of the BBC News theme, different to the version Bill Bailey used (I think).

Oh how I chuckled at "Huws" pay-off. Do you think he's looking for a job reading the headlines on Wales Today?! ROFL Smile

Bills was a loop of the 2000 opening titles
Dick 'n' Doms version was a sped up countodwn with added symbols.

Why does the Fiona Bruce character remind me of Sherie Hewson of Crossroads fame? Shocked

I know... It did seem a bit silly to have Melvin Odoom playing Trevor McDonald when it was the "BBC NEWS dance"... but maybe they couldn't find a Darren Jordon style wig...

Melvin is one of the best characters of the Bungalow... he always does classic improvisations of characters... He's even played some characters who are meant to be white!

Ah Mr Blobby's making a comeback? Not sure if that's a good thing but he's appeared today. Also as this team is from Ireland, I feel inclined to ask if 'Weatherman' is on the show, as there are some nutters on todays' show.

As for Dick being 'pregnant' I don't know how he managed it as it is allegedly just the two of them in the bungalow the rest of the week. Funny to see them being stitched up again during the show. Laughing
