I've just listened again online. If you click on Radio 1's Chart Show Live Relived..

2m30 is where the show just ends, a bit later the backup tape kicks in
2m50 is where the backup tape gives up the ghost and skips back and forth all over the shop, which then continues to the end and then into Pete Tong's show

Obviously there was nobody there at all to sort it out

That's what they get putting out an entire schedule with recorded programmes

I hope Chappers and Dave mention it tomorrow

Do you have a link to that? I can't find it.

It is no doubt provoking so much discussion because it's so rare for something to go so badly wrong at Radio 1. It actually looks to some degree like they've mis-timed how long The Chart Show Live Relived was due to last. Normally the chart show actually finishes at about quarter to 7. That seems a bit too simple though.

According to Radio Times there should have been a bulletin of Newsbeat at 6.30

As the programme ended pretty much dead on 6.30, presumably the newsbeat jingle should have played with Scott's generic news intro followed by a live bulletin and then the last part of the programme

Someone joked elsewhere that maybe the newsreader had been sacked as earlier at the end of the 10.30 bulletin he said "Radio 1 Newsbeat again at 10.30"

There almost certainly would have been someone there but that doesn't mean that they can necessarily fix the problem!

If that's the case, I bet the 'worker' was sh*tt*ng themselves lol.

Just to be annoyingly accurate...

2h 31m = Show ends/silence
2h 33m = E.T. kicks in
2h 53m 54s = Skips (Half way during "Thunder In My Heart" by Meck)
3h 3s = "Nasty Girl" tries to take over
3h 1m = "Nasty Girl" takes over, still a few glitches
3h 2m = Stops
4h 35m = Still Nothing
7h 12m = I give up

I would also suggest the emergency DAT kicks in AFTER Arctic Monkeys. It sounds to me like the first track is played as a stopgap, then the emergency DAT (starting with a Radio 1 sweeper and running into Gorillaz) is played out manually directly afterwards. .

I'd agree with that. When Moyles was playing emergency tape chicken, he jokingly played a sweeper like that
Plus that Gorillaz track isn't exactly new

A suggestion about the length, maybe the newsbeat bulletin was being done in silence, with sound at the stage needed to detect silence, but silent by the time it reached the listeners?

I've had some time to waste tonight, so here's the segment. It's a large-ish file so please RIGHT CLICK and download, don't stream it. Quality's a bit **** but that's because it's off the listen again.

Also, does anyone know when the students will be on R1? usually (around this time of year?) they have the SRA winners on, usually in the wee hours of the morning.

How do they have pre-recorded shows? Are they loaded onto the VCS or are they played from DATs/CDs?

I didn't think this was worthy of a thread, but I'll mention it here anyway. Radio 2 listeners are currently being treated to Colin Berry as DJ!
