I agree, they were funny, cool, and original. Now Johnny Vaughn is having ago over on Capital, and all sorts. Chris and Sandy both need to think up something new and original for the jingles and imaging for 2008. Im sure the 2007 mixes are going to be fantastic though.

As brilliant as they were in the beginning the breakfast show jingles are really starting to grate now. They don't even rhyme half the time.

Going back to what was being discussed earlier in this topic. Nihal does seem like an odd choice for a stand in on the Breakfast show given that this is Radio 1's Premier show. He is a specialist DJ rather than a presenter (if you know what i mean). Having said this he was an absolute delight to listen to. A few people i work with even commented that they enjoyed listning to him. (still thats more than likely why he landed the gig as management spotted his abilities).
I too also find it very bizzarre that most of the output from Radio 1 has been recorded over the festive period. You kind of expect it from local stations as they only have small staff numbers and dont get the same audience levels as R1. i think the only live show on Xmas day was Scott Mills. Early Breakfast has been recorded for the last two weeks which is kind of frustrating when you are listning to it (although i think the 4-5am part of the show is always recorded). It is very evident when a show is recorded as it just doesn't have the same feel. I suppose you could argue that it not so many people listen over this time of year hence why they record it.
One more thing that did happen a few weeks ago was when Chris Moyles took over from early breakfast everything worked except the microphones in the studio. His jingle was playing but nothing else, after about 30 secs Jason & Joel came back on to help out. Chris got the microphones working after about a minute by re-routing them through the effects machine and of course he then found the pitch control! it was quite funny then as we got Little Dave & Little Chris until the 07:00 Newsbeat. Im unsure if it was partly staged as it all sounded a bit scripted but if it wasn't then fair play to them as it was very funny.

The theme music has been re-recorded with an orchestra and it sounds very nice indeed

Just remembered i heard an advert for the New Chris Moyles Breakfast Show. Starts Monday 8th Jan 2007. Should be interesting to see what's new. All i know is Car Park Catchphrase is back (and that's not new).

I'm not a fan of the new Newsbeat jingles to be honest. They're weedy compared to the old package.

I love the new opening jingle. not a fan of the new newsbeat though.
I still love the 2003 package the most, although newsbeat is at it's best when it uses instrumentals of the playlist at quarter to six. when they're on form I find their main bulletins are one of the slickest pieces of radio there is.

I'm not sure on the new Newsbeat yet, but it's probably just because they are new
The sport doesn't feel right without the "one" at the start.
Not sure about the fixed 'Digital, FM , Online, this is Radio 1' in the middle of the Newsbeat intro
The 5pm bulletin used to use different cuts compared to the others, I'm not sure if it still does
