Today (Saturday) is the first day of the new Newsbeat package.

What do people think, having heard as part of the news for the first time?

A silence detector is used, which starts the CD after a set amount of silence (I think it's 2 mins for Radio 1) and then turns it off the moment audio is restored. Also, as I understood it the emergency CD's are playout out at the masts, not at Broadcasting House, unless they recently changed it.


Yeah, this happened a while back, silent for 2 minutes then Gorrilaz kicked in, but the song didn't end when the audio restored, it continued playing

Just heard it and don't think its as good as the previous one

Hear them side by side and the new one definitely isn't as punchy but if I remember right, the old one was soon changed to ramp it up a bit so maybe they'll do the same again.

I think it will grow on me, its just a bit different to the other one, that's all.

Ahh so it is still music4. From what I heard on air, Its a bit like the BBC News Newsbeat era meets the 2005/06 Music 4 era. I like it!

As brilliant as they were in the beginning the breakfast show jingles are really starting to grate now. They don't even rhyme half the time.
