actually Ant and Dec had sketches written for them by a bloke called Dean Wilkinson

They also have writers for their Saturday night Takeaway sketches.

I think ill be watching smtv over D+D though. if im awake. I have seen D+D but they annoyed me too much.

I couldn't think of his name. I'm sure he's been mentioned on the forum before.

There's an interview with him at www.brekkie.com He wrote for Ant & Dec when they presented The Big Breakfast.

In da Bungalow is a bizarre show but it could do well - maybe attracting a bit of a cult audience. It's either going to do really well or flop, IMO.

Not sure about the new format of TOTP - seemed a bit bare without a studio audience (although I think that was the feeling they wanted, as if they crept into the TOTP studio without anyone knowing...). It does make it stand out more from CD:UK than before, though.

Bungalow is a great show. And as benjy says it will either be great or flop. It did well on the channel last series, thus why they're going to try it on BBC One. I kept flicking between the two, bungalow and sm:tv.

Nice little bits of extra set as well, not changed the bungalow but added basments and more, which could have been there but were never used.

The return of bogies was great, though parts of me wished that they would have got to shouting level.

We will just have to wait to see how well its done. I felt that the kids were a bit too old, even though they were only 11. The best ones on the last series were the 8 - 10 year olds that were evil and answered back.

It did seem odd without the audience. Nice to see a fresh set of graphics for it though. The whole show seemed more polished than the old one.

Dick and Dom - nice to see that all the extra money was used on a slighly better set of graphics but the rest of the show is still as cheap as ever.

It seemed to me that top of the pops saturday was recorded, especially with all the touches added to the performances. It was definately a different approach. For me its still cd:uk as the artists appear more to me. I still think its the wrong timeslot for it, though I suppose ratings have proved me wrong!

Da Bungalow didn't appeal to me - but would have done when I was younger. It hasn't got the mass appeal of it's predecessors and would be more appropriate as a summer fill in.

You've also got the issue that Dick & Dom are not Ant and Dec. And never will be. Whether they'll be appreciated as Dick & Dom only time will tell - but at the moment they are still in Ant and Dec's shadow.

It does have a feeling of summer fill in, I'd still rather see da bungalow on CBBC with tss on BBC One.

Although it is a very different show, I feel as though the viewers will go for the usual saturday morning mix of sm:tv.

I wonder what itv will do if sm:tv ends up beating dick & dom by a big margin. Will they still continue with plans for their new show?

And if dick & dom flops massively, will the bbc pull it off bbc one and put the saturday show back on, or live it through till next spring?

I have a feeling that if they are not satusfied they will let it run its course, but then have the saturday show on 52 weeks with dick & dom or a summer replacement taking over in april 2005.

erm... hello audience?? Where have you gone?

Was not too keen on the new TOTP, looked a bit bland to me. D&D was absolutely hilarious, and will work well in the schedules.

That's just a very lazy comparison. They are nothing at all like Ant & Dec, the only similarity is that there are 2 of them.

If they have to be compared as similar to anything it's Chris Tarrant from about 15 years ago.... not that there's anything wrong with that.

and a cliched one aswell. As D&D themselves said on Liquid the other night you could say that about any two guys in a double act, Morcombe and Wise, Vic and Bob...

Yes -

Dick and Dom are in no way Ant and Dec. There are 2 of them and they are both funny - does that make them Ant and Dec? Not at all.

On another note
I've never really like SM:tv Live so I don't see how SM:tv Gold is appealling to me, but I've watched Dick and Dom in da Bungalow since the beginning on the CBBC Channel so I feel I should keep up the tradition and I don't mind because I feel it is the best programme on TV at the present moment and may be for years to come!!

I liked the basement etc. With the granny locked up in a cage! I think that's because a) bigger budget and most importantly b) more space. I doubt very much they are still in TC2 like before.

If TOTP Saturday is recorded it means that could be done Friday in TC6 and then Dick and Dom are there on Sat and Sun.

I liked the bungalow this morning. I still think SM:tv are just being cheap and uninventive doing "Gold" for a few months. Really it should be 3 or 4 weeks with Ant, Dec & Cat returning for the last show.
