The only reason why Dick and Dom is two hours instead of three is that they've cut out some of the filler cartoons that they used to have. There will be only three on Saturday whereas in the last year it wasn't unusual for there to be five or six. In fact when I taped the first show I TiVoed out the fillers and it was only 1hr 10 min...so you're not losing anything.

Chucklevision, Rentaghost type programme and The Cramp Twins have been removed. (They total about an hour)Yvon of the Ykon, Looney Tunes and something else is on next week.

Who said that there'd be no celebs on the new Dick 'n' Dom??
*cough*

I thought that was the point of TOTP Saturday.

JB is correct - DADIDB is the same with some tarted up graphics - you may have seen the new address board on this mornings Saturday Show.

They've cut out some of the filler, but the rest is more or less the same.

I like the new graphics style. A bit more effort than last year I think.

I do remember the "Generator Game" when it first started, neon coloured objects with a typical cheesy voiceover.

"Ooooh look at this, it's an elephant" - "You might get this, it's a horn"

All sorts of innuendo the kids didn't realise but everyone else did!

Fab stuff!

They need to do a few more things like that. Simply because they can make it funny.

I hope they don't return with about 20 production team and 10 assistant producers (like TSS). If they keep a small(ish) production team like last series they show will stay as funny.

It's the policy of the programme and has been mentioned in the publicity about the new series.

Any 'celebs' will make only a fleeting appearence on the screen of the video door-phone I suspect

I believe it's the same amount of people making the show, except they've got a bit more money to spend this time around.... not that they'd really use it anywhere apart from more creamy muck muck or dirty norris!!

The people involved I would say are keen to keep it as it was on CBBC and not ruin it by throwing fancy stuff and an audience left right and centre.

They should just repeat UP2U, just to go round Five Star's house again

No, no, no Five Star were much better when they're on Going Live and answering phone calls from kids who use absurd language. Laughing

As Dick and Dom will now be on BBC1, will they still be showing things like Rentaghost? Or are they adopting the same programmes as TSS. I bet Fearne Cotton is now glad that she won't have to be up that early on a Saturday for a while.

As long as we don't see naked old people (The Incident) then I think the show could work.

GO GO AWAY DICK AND DOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Saturday Show is ten times better than that farting, irritating crap. Sorry.

Speaking of which, (IIRC) When ITV axed Tiswas in 1982, it was replaced by . . . The Saturday Show . . . !

And if you lived in TSW land you'd also get The Saturday Show, but a locally produced version from Plymouth. TSW was eventually forced to change the name of its show to Freeze Frame to avoid confusion.

From what I've seen of "Dick & Dom In Da Bungalow", their format seems rather like a modern day Tiswas.

Only a lot more banal, stupid and puerile than Tiswas ever was!

Couldn't agree more. Tiswas was boisterous and anarchic but good clean fun at the end of the day. Chris Tarrant didn't need to resort to innuendo and bad taste just to push the ratings up. I've said before D&D should get the chop, instead they get promoted to BBC1. Why am I not surprised?

Well I suppose I'm glad that Saturday mornings aren't filled with 4 hours of a guy in a beard talking about physics on the Open University.

Not that the OU ever got in the way of childrens' TV - it was on BBC2!

That's what I thought when I first watching it and went into complaining mode. When I stopped I started finding it really funny.

No, I don't think they are. Anyway, what do you mean? Presenting Style, taking over saturday morning ratings?

You can't compare them anyway. The shows are too different. I think DIck & Dom have a lot more input into the bunglow than Ant & Dec ever did with SM:tv. It looks like DIck & Dom are more involved with the show, it's direction and its content as well.

D&D is for under fives. Why is it beating SMTV?
