I never really have seen it, at the most one episode. Personally I wasn't keen on it.

I suppose that the BBC have realised that it isn't enough to beat the legend of "SM:TV Live" then.
If only ITV brought it back, or at least play the Ant & Dec era in numerical order on ITV2.

SMTV was Ant and Dec, once they left, the showed bombed in my opinon. The BBC should be applauded on finding a different format than its previous 25 years of the same show albeit under a different title.

You can't beat the energy of the last two years of Going Live and the first three of Live and Kicking over SMTV Live.

I agree with that. Though I bet it is hard to attract kids to a different format. It'll most probably return now. Though I think I'd prefer the old format to return rather than to create a clone of Dick & Dom. Saying that The Mighty Truck of Stuff that is replacing Dick & Dom is different, not sure if it's good different though.

As for Dick & Dom, the mockumentary was great this morning, if only to see clips, such as their very first intro.

I will miss the show, there are many that I haven't seen, but I loved every one that I have. It's been mad, chaotic and above all, a great entertaining programme whenever you watch it. I think the people I admire are the producer and director, Steve & Heppy, the people who came up with the ideas for the games, Lee, Mel, Ian and Dave for being so bloody funny and Dick & Dom for trying to hold everything together.

Im sorry, but its incredibly stupid, CBBC are not being responsible anymore, I do believe someone said a few weeks ago on P.O.V that it is just brainwashing for a new kind of chav...

Please explain how the show 'brainwashes' children to be 'chavs'? I take it you don't think the traditional approach of wheeling out reality TV stars and pop rubbish has that effect at all Rolling Eyes I'm also assuming you've never watched the show, like most of its critics.

To set the record straight, the BBC did not end the show. The decision to quit after 5 seasons was taken by D&D (and to an extent the team) last year, well before the show returned. SMTV and da Bungalow are both excellent in my opinion, one was an old format done to perfection, the other something original and brilliant.

What's on next week then - The Saturday Show - or are kids programmes forgot about for the Commonwealth Games?

Also, are children's programmes returning to BBC1 after their "trial" on BBC2 - which I believe has led to a dip in ratings! I do think Breakfast should stay on BBC1, followed by the flagship Saturday morning show at 9am.

Ironically, the justification for moving the shows was so BBC1 could show sport without moving everything to BBC2 - but the only thing they showed was the Winter Olympics, which apart from this was all on BBC2 anyway!

Bizarrely it was always intended to be the last series, but then the beeb announced a few weeks ago that the series was ending, which made it sound like it had been axed

Throughout the series they had been saying onscreen it was going to be their final series, and the past six weeks they had been saying "only 6 more shows left" etc..

By the way was this picture/filming taken in the BBC News area, as the location looks familar.

Yes it was - happened to be sitting right next to them while they were filming that. He's sort of standing near the position that's used on the Daytime summaries but looking down into the first floor of the news centre rather than across. He's looking at the back of the News 24 set.

I'll assume this....

from during the series, was done in N6 then? With special permission I assume, as I seem to remember Huw Edwards saying something on a programme about BBC News about nobody else usually being allowed in N6!

I think it was done on a CSO, the desk is at the wrong angle and is too square to be N6.

It's isn't the desk used in N6, I suspect it was setup on the CSO set they used for the bungalow head introductions on the Saturdays.

The show had some good extras who regularly appeared on the show alongside Dick and Dom. It was amusing during an interogation game one of them said "for the benefit of the tape... ...and the camera, I'm showing my CV" using his actual CV and then Dick started reading some of it out. They also used their final show to take potshots at Rachael Stephens and BBC Management.

I thought chavs were around before the Dick and Dom-era? Confused

I never got a chance to watch D&D really, but when I did I thought it was quite funny. Shame it's gone. Hopefully they can come up with another good idea.

I agree about SM:TV Live going downhill after Ant and Dec left. They lost a few features with their departure - Challenge Ant being one of them.

Nah, SMTV would have been good with the right presenters, and not the talentless nobodies they took on instead *cough* Brian Dowling *cough* Smile
