On Desperate Housewives - sometimes the use the full opening titles and sometimes they use a short *sting* any ideas why?

They've used the short sting on the last few Channel 4 showings (10pm Wednesday) dunno about the other showings though. I prefer the full opening titles.

They've been using the sting in the states for the last couple of episodes, I think it's so they can squeeze in more ads Smile

Full titles returned for last night's E4 show - first time since the opening episode I think!

It's a wonder C4 don't add them in when not available to extended the show by a minute or so - making it slightly easier for a 43 minute show to fill a 65 minute slot!

RTÉ TWO has been using the short titles too (though 2/3 weeks ahead of C4), so presumably it's the way it's been distributed.

The reason for the sting instead of the full titles was because they didn't want to cut the script down further, hencing the title sequence had to be cut.

It's the same with many programmes. The Simpsons is a good example, sometimes you get a tour of the whole city, sometimes it jumps from the classroom to the house.

thats right, more of the show. This is also the same with Greys Anatomy which have used a short sting for quite a few of its episodes. You can tell if this is part of the show if "starting" credits are overlayed above live action after the sting, the credits that would ordinarily be within the opening titles.
