Corporate Newsnight doesnt seem so far away now

could they do a beep budumdum remix of the newsnight theme?

Well we can't catch the new Dispatch Box tonight. It's not on! Said there were techinical difficulties or something.

i wondered why they were showing an old (and i mean old) nature programme.

Is it made by 'BBC News'? - the 1/6/10/N24/World/Breakfast all have 'BBC News' branding on them - whereas Newsnight is always just 'BBC' - hence the lack of corporate branding?

A few months ago I was thinking about the possibility of generic Newsnight. And, like you, I thought that they couldn't completely get rid of the long-standing theme tune - it's an integral part of what makes Newsnight what it is.

So I also think that, as you said, they would have to do no more than give the existing theme a beep budumdum -style remix.

Also, it would have to be slightly not-properly-generic (as is LDN and Despatch Box), because it's more a 'news-related' topical programme than a straightforward bulletin. A different interpretation of the generic look is therefore important so as to emphasise the differnt nature of the programme.

The dispatch box that didn;t broadcast was stopped because of an anthrax alert.

I think this is whats missing from the BBC News style, the nice blue and red that complement each other rather than sticking with the reds and yellows all the time for the different BBC News programes.
