BBC Millbank re-opened today in gorgeous 16:9 widescreen.

Despatch Box is the first programme I have seen from the studios there . It has a glass brick wall, and BBC News desk, but the colour scheme is more purple than china red, and the walls have portcullis House of Commons textures. (Also the newspaper review is now done more nicely - with magnetic house of commons 'fridge magnets' to secure individual articles to a board, rather than using a full page and a highlighter pen as before)

Also I think the music and titles are new - quite liked them as well.

Suspect the set will see service for Dateline London - the base and desk look strangely familiar!!

Sounds quite nice, could you possibly get a pic for us forum viewers please? Smile

Sorry people - I am afraid I don't have video capture abilities... It is a regular BBC Two show at midnight though - so I'm sure a suitably equipped forum member could oblige.

It looked really nice actually.

I like the use of the Breakfast style windows, it looks like the moonlight shining through and the purple is rather nice to look at. You don't want a brightly lit studio at that time of night, so I think it does look very nice.

Well done, isn't Westminster Live starting again today? If so, will it be making use of a new studio at Millbank?

i liked the set too, it seemed very dark too. the music was another variation of the corporate music - but noticeably different. i think this set and bbc london's shows the bbc arent so obsessed with making all shows look the same anymore ... just keeping a common style.

Well Westminster Live came from the same old place at Millbank, but of course it was in 16:9.

Looked very nice, Parliament camera's should go 16:9 as well, as there is very little point in the exercise.

On no wait, sorry I forgot! The BBC love making all their studio cameras 16:9 but then do nothing about all the 4:3 cameras that film the reports.

Don't get me wrong, I really like W/S but I find little point in it, just so you can make the studio 16:9 capable but then have a load of 4:3 material coming in.
