I thought this was about MLN for a minute - can't say I'd ever heard of him and I'd say his work wasn't exactly timeless (and that's no sleight towards him, they all look dated between 1950 and 1990 except for NG and Showtime)

True, but the ones shown above are all still in use -- and that's quite an achievement. For instance, witness the many different logos NBC had used before settling on Chermayeff's peacock:

I like the PBS logo, but it was a very bold decision to represent a TV channel through three birdhouses with a big bullethole in them. Must've been a strange design brief.

Pretty certain that's the Pan Am Airlines logo. Wink
