Has he actually said anything to that effect-- has he made any comment at all on the issue? I think Mr Fry would be a good choice. Why wouldn't he make the commitment-- he has been hosting QI for a while now. I'd have thought C'down would be right up his street.

I know that Gyles B said he wouldn't do the show out of respect for Richard, but he may have changed his mind now now Des has departed?

Of course Stephen has already had a taste of hosting Countdown.
