HI ALL... FIRSTLY, BIG THANKS TO ALL THOSE WHO HAVE WRITTEN / EMAILED, SAYING THAT I SHOULD GO FOR THE NEWLY VACATED "COUNTDOWN" CHAIR...
DOUBTLESSLY, I HAVE AN ULTRA SLIM CHANCE OF GETTING THE MIGHTY GIG, BUT THAT DOESN'T DETER ME FROM HAVING A SHOT - AND YOUR LOVELY WORDS MAKE ME EVEN MORE DRIVEN, SO THANK YOU.

What about Kathryn Apanowicz (hope I spelt that right
)? In a way that would carry on Richard's memory, plus she has been on C'down a few times.
However a male presenter is probably needed to spark off Carol
Eamonn Holmes is 8:1 favourite aparrently

Having heard her over the years on Radios York and Leeds, I have to say she's an awful, shouty presenter. If she's similar at all on TV, I've no doubt she'd become very unpopular.

Greggles would be good as he was previously the warm-up man for Countdown (he always used to bang on about not being on TV when more people were watching!)

I think it was either Thursday or Friday night and they were voting on Quizmania who out of them would be best for Countdown and guess who was leading the votes...
I agree he would be good, plus he knows about it and used to be a regular albeit off-screen.

It was Greggles and a couple of crew members though!
Though I'm not convinced he'd be the right choice for the job, I think that is the sort of area they need to look at - someone who has experience but isn't really that well known.
As for Stephen Fry - it's probably all based on him quitting the BAFTAs and hosting QI. I don't think he's got the right appeal to be honest for the show - and I don't think it's the sort of committment he'd want to make!

Yeah, with all respect, I can see this would be a bit of a "come down" for Fry (no pun intended please!).
